The embodiment of adventure and discovery in the purest sense, EOIII transports gamers to a sparkling oceanic paradise filled with atmospheric dungeons to chart and survey, vast watery expanses to sail across, and rumors of a sunken city to investigate. With an entirely new host of character classes to customize and train, the addition of naval travel and exploration, and the unprecedented introduction of cooperative local multiplayer content, EOIII isn't content to simply continue the series; it seeks to redefine it.

Review 1 for Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
Having never played an Etrian Odyssey game before, I was a bit hesitant...however Atlus has an amazing track record and after a bit of research I figured I'd wait a few months for the newest entry Etrian Odyssey III to come out. It was TOTALLY worth the wait.
I havent had this much fun with an RPG in who knows how long!
It's like D+D mixed with old school FFVI style combat, amazing music, great item crafting and some cartography thrown into the mix. Its unbelievably refreshing to play something that doesnt have an emo protagonist with spiked hair and pleather pants on for once in this decade.
I can totally see how this game wouldnt be for everyone, it has a steep difficulty level and it doesnt throw rewards at you right off the bat...but for those of you who hail from the old school and are in your late 20's early 30's and who love a good challeneg and can remember what old school gaming is all about then this is for you.
I decided to get this game after hearing so much good stuff about the previous two games (which I may get some point soon) and I have to say, it's great! I can understand how some players wouldn't like this, it's difficult to play without strategy. Even when using an effecient strategy, it's still pretty hard. The dungeon exploring isn't like in most days now. You don't simply have to go through, fighting monsters along the way. You have to solve puzzles, like getting a FOE(super powered monsters that shouldn't be fought when you first run into them) into a cage so you can navigate the room freely. Another good puzzle would be getting through air currents which blow you in a different direction. Although, one of the best features would be the sea faring. Whenever I'm stuck in the game, I usually go out on the sea to make some money, get new equipment, do a few sea quests for exp, and I can get past it. Although, to admit it, I'm really far ahead dungeon vs. sea wise. In conclusion, Etrian Odyssey 3 is a really good game and I would reccomend it to everyone.
Review 3 for Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City
Might be the best of the series.
I AM ERROR
Etrian Odyssey III looks better than the previous two games. There are now three possible endings, and ocean travel has been added, along with multi-player. The available classes look more unique than the generic ones used in the previous games. There are also more colors available for each character portrait.

How RPGs should be.
I am a huge fan of RPGs, and have been since my parents got me the original "Pokemon." I haven't played either of the first Odysseys, but I can guarantee this game it going to be great. Ten classes, along with sub classes you can assign your character, ocean exploration, and my favorite, anti-cliche classes! I'm just plain tired of the standard Warrior, Rouge/Ranger, and Mage classes almost all games use. I think this will be a great game, and I'm definitely going to get it!
