I have never had a problem with this system except it has low memory and no hard drive. Which means if you do not have a hard drive you cannot play certain games. You are better off buying the 250gb Xbox that is $100.00 more.... Because if you buy a 250gb seperate it is $99.99. But this system is good, it has lasted, and I have bought this and the 250gb and I much prefer the 250gb system than this one.

I just want to say that I am a 43 yr old father of two boys. My oldest son just turned 9. On his birthday my wife and I decided to get him a XBOX 360. I have one and he loves to use it. This is my second x box that I owned and it has been going strong for 3 yrs now. My first one lasted about 2 yrs before the RROD. I went to a GameStop by my house and picked up my son’s birthday gift one week before his day in May 2012. When he received it he was so excited. He could not wait to play. We would play together through XBOX live (several times) and had a blast. His birthday is the end of May 2012; by mid June he came to me and said the XBOX has a RED LIGHT on the power button. I asked him what happened before it turned red. He was playing for an hour turned it off to do something for mom and when he went back and turned it on the power light turned red. I told him to shut it off and I will come in to see what’s up. I went there and turned it on and it worked fine. Two days later he said it happened again we let it rest and it worked again. When he use his XBOX for awhile and it heats up once you turn it off you can’t use it for about an hour or so. The RROD is supposed to be fixed by now. What the deal my older XBOX the first arcade version the 512mb works fine. His has a 4gig arcade version that’s brand new. If anyone has any suggestions fill me in please I feel bad that it keeps breaking on him.

You should always buy the extended warranty for any xbox. Its only $20.00 for a year or $40 for 2 years. I bought the $20.00 one and I've swapped out our system three times already. If something goes wrong and it always does just renew the warranty again. 90% of all xbox systems will have a major problem at some point. My sons ps3 has never had a problem. Like I said we are on our 3rd xbox in 21/2 years.

r u sure he really did play it for an hour because i got this exact same model as u i preordered it and it never got the RROD and thats after 12-40 hour gaming sessions

No matter what the Xbox 360 is, you always want to get a cooling system for $20. Especially if he is a big time gamer like me. But this Xbox has less chances than the white one.

My mom bought this gaming console for my brother because he left his xbox while we were on vacation so than the next day when got back to his xbox my mom decided to let me have this system and I was playing Halo 3 on this xbox and I have to say that this is way better than the original 360 and I couldn't even stop playing Halo 3. The only thing that I hate though about this xbox is that it doesn't have a hard drive in it. so yeah I recommend u guys out there to get this system cause it's freakin awesome.

Actually, there is an accessible hard drive in the system. On the bottome lift part of the vent up and there is a hard drive. It's kind of hidden, that's why a lot of people seem to think there isn't a hard drive. I'm buying mine in one week, happy gaming! :)

The Xbox 360 is a good console especially if you are a first/third person shooter fan or just enjoy online games, it has exclusives games like halo and gears of war plus other multiplatform games like call of duty, battlefield, medal of honor etc. that will please your shooter needs. But the problem is the cost, the price of admission maybe $200 but you have to spend more money on it to fully experience all that the xbox 360 has to offer. Like buying a propietary hard drive, a 1 year or 3 months Gold membership for online gaming and apps, rechargable batteries for the xbox 360 controller etc. all NOT included with the price of admission. The online service Xbox live is great, is secure, reliable, it has party chat for you to chat with 8 of your friends and plan strategies and it has multiple media apps for videos, music and social networking but the down side again is the price. Also i find exclusive games lacking besides the one i mencioned early there is the Forza motorsport series, the fable series and exclusive XBA games and kinect games, there are other exclusive games like for example, lost odyssey and blue dragon for rpg fans but there are few and not considered system sellers. Xbox live maybe more reliable than for example PSN but the console it self is not, there is a high probability for hardware failure that makes your system unusable, believe me im on my 4th xbox. In overall is a good console for shooter fans expecially when it comes to online gaming with a secure and reliable servece, but if your looking for better single player experiences and more diversity in games the playstation 3 is your go.
