I was really upset spending money on this game being a previous world of warcraft player. I had very high hopes for this game from all the hype it got but I was let down. There are to many similarities and just outright copied things in Rift that have come directly from world of warcraft. It is literally the same game except for the rift gimmicks which end up being extremely boring and repetitive. I'm actually outraged this game dare charge as much in a monthly subscription as wow does when it is just a copied watered down version. I won't go back to warcraft but I definitely won't continue playing rift either. Also I would not recommend this to anyone trying to quit WoW unless you want to be spoon fed epics and have nothing to do all day and have awful warfronts(aka battleground). Overall decent game but if you've played any mmo's besides WoW you will see how unoriginal and stale this game is. I have high hopes for the next star wars mmo however, hopefully it's not a huge let down like rift was.

Great alternative to wow

Ill start with the bad. The races aren't crazy enough for me (no undead) just elves dwarfs giants and humans. My computer is above average I play wow with high-ultra settings and get about 80-100fps. This game gives my computer a workout with max settings I get about 25-30fps which is disappointing. An average computer will run this and it will still look decent. The most important is talent trees they are so good in this game it is like designing your own class. In wow you get 3 talent trees this lets you pick whatever talent trees you want. I am rockin' out a healer with powerful AOE and my third tree will be defensive. I am just level 3 too. I can't wait to experience the rest of the game or just the beautiful scenery. I hear there are dungeons too can't wait and pvp. This game is everything wow was, but better. The only thing I regret is not buying the collector's edition!

Its ok at best, once you get past the new of the game, its pretty boring, and irritating, repetitive, and boring. Not alot to do, and what you can do, is a extreme grind fest only. So if you like grind fests this one is for you! and no, its not a wow killer or even a good rival.

Let me just say I really wanted to like this game. But taking unique elements from previous mmorpgs and putting them together does not guarantee a good game. First off, I was really disappointed with this game's graphics and sound. This game has some of the bleakest environments, cruddy character models, cheesy animations and bland spell effects. I was appalled at how bad the character models were. First off their style is borderline anime which sickens me. I guess they wanted to cater to the Guild Wars fans. I really wasn't impressed with the environments, they were pretty bleak and didn't feel very lush. The sound was pretty good but again some of it was mediocre. A lot of the mobs, especially the humanoid ones run around making these weird growling and grunting noises which got really irritating. Combat in this game looks and feels hollow and isn't very responsive. The spell effects were pretty meager as well, the buffs don't look very detailed and that's an important aspect, at least for me, when playing a mmorpg. Now onto the game's two big "selling points". First off, Rifts. While they may look and sound like a good idea and are fun for a little while at first, are nothing more than public quests from Warhammer Online except that they pop up in random places instead of being in the set areas all the time. I'll admit that they do look awesome though. They are pretty cool and chaotic at first but they just get extremely repetitive and boring. And a lot of times you won't even be able to complete a Rift event unless there are a lot of other players nearby. Next is the game's class, or soul system. It really is a good idea, on paper. Basically you pick one of four classes, warrior, cleric, mage, rogue, then you can pick 3 more sub-classes which are called souls. Basically you get to be a character with 3 different classes. Now while that may sound appealing and kind of is, it doesn't feel anymore like being one class with 3 soul trees and a variety of very different types of spells and abilities(for the most part) smashed together. It really never truly feels like you have one character with 3 separate classes. It would've been better if you have 3 buttons to click on, one for each soul, and for each one you can set up a fresh spell bar and set different armor and weapons for each one and it completely changes to that setup when you push the button. I think that would've been more fun. I'm done ranting, this is just my opinion, I was thoroughly disappointed and won't be renewing my subscription after the 30 day period ends. I'd only recommend this game to people who haven't played any other mmorpgs.
