Comparable to WoW except: (1) better/more realistic graphics. (2) way more character customizations. (3) way more race/class combinations. (4) unique race/class combinations. (5) more talent tree options. (6) exciting and new. Besides that mostly everything else is just like WoW. Questing, raids, guides, buy, sell, interact, etc. The best part for me is having alot of options just in creating and picking your character class. It's not like WoW where you see 100 of the same characters equipped with the same gear, have the same talents and everyone is max level 85. Played Wow for 5 years. Just got bored of it. The only draw back I can see is it's new and going to take a little time to get populated enough for some. Just remember, it has only been out for 1 1/2 months. It's just going to get better as any necessary patches come through.

People say it's a wowclone. I totally agree. But here's the catch. They took the best parts of the best mmorpg, polished them, and then took the static and repetitive gameplay of a game like WoW and just destroyed it. The inclusive aspect of rift hunting or defending and the ease with which you can find and function perfectly within groups is an innovation in the field that makes the dungeon finder in WoW look like gaming with legos. World events are amazing, dungeons could use some polish but are very good-- class flexibility took all the best out of SWG pre NGE and left it in this game-- it's just very good. And at this stage in the game development, I daresay we can only expect things to get better still.

Okay, so it seems like all the bad reviews are coming from WoW fan bois. First let me start off by saying I am an ex wow player and have played WoW for 5 years. Rift is a whole new experience. Sure it has a lot of similarities to other games but as far as mmo's go there really isn't much more you can do. Now with that being said Rift is still it's own game. I think the problem with most people is they don't realize this game has not even been out for two months yet so it still has plenty of time to grow which I am sure it will do, unlike wow which will only continue to get easier and easier as time goes on. I would advise people to actually give the game a try (they usually have weekend codes they give out) before they base their decision off the fan bois.

i understand where your coming form in terms of character custimization, but world of warcraft does not simply get easier you get better at playing the classes and get used to questing techniques therefore making the transition from a low level to a 85 even more fun

I used to play wow a lot but, no offensse, i thought it was the worst game ever! So i thought i would try rift. It was a million times better!!!! anyone who likes MMORPG should try it. The pvp is very good and i play it all the time. EVERYONE SHOULD TRY RIFT!!
