Look i'll try to make this as short as possible..ive play WoW for 5yrs and its gotten pretty boring so i wanted to try something out..ive only played a weekend of it n looking forward to buy it next week..the gameplay is smooth n easy..the world itself is beautiful and the rifts are amazing..sometime there could be 10 rifts goin on at once..look it doesnt stray that far from Wow but its does thing great that WoW doesnt so if your looking for some complete out the box, fresh n new and wanna see the game grow from the beginning come n check out Rift..

It's a decent niche game

I'm an ex-wow player, so bare that in mind here. I left WoW last year and was looking forward to Rift. I even originally purchased a 6 mos subscription before cancelling. Here is my take: There are things that are good. The graphics, the quests, the idea of the soul shards, The UI (which is everything WoW should have been, and was with Mods), and the Rifts. They all kind of work together, and it gives enough of a twist to make it unique as it's own kind of MMORPG. But what makes it unique and, admittedly good at first, ultimately turned me against it in the end. The Bad: Gets a little repetitive. There is too much of a feel like WoW - you still need to grind, etc... and I found myself not really caring over much on some of the quest lines. The souls are fun, but it takes some getting used to and, in the end, there are still only certain builds depending on what you want to do. Most importantly, to me, the game just wasn't fun once you were past the new uniqueness of the game. It lead me to cancel my subscription two days before my month was up. I just couldn't see me playing it longer than a few months. The bottom line: I think this game has a lot of potential and it will really be a hit to a certain kind of RPG player, or those who have never played an MMO before. It's also VERY new and I think that it's a good sign they started off so strong. With some patches and tweaks, I may pick it up and pay for a subscription. As it is, I'll save my money and wait and see. This game isn't going to be for the masses like WoW is (or was), but it's good enough to give Trion a chance to improve.

Boring
PostedApril 3, 2011
Played it for a month, got all top tier gear, dungeons are easy, a lot of bosses are bugged, and rifts are boring/repetitive...
The pve is bugged/easy, the pvp sucks and has long queues and is nothing new, same as warhammer only differently named.
Very dissapointing, don't buy this game.

Just not fun
PostedMarch 31, 2011
Okay, I was in beta since beta 4 and a bunch of us pointed out the changes they were making were taking away the fun but Trion knew that release content was slim and that people would level faster than they could get new content out. So, they tuned the balance and made the game a grind. It does get old somewhere in your twenties and rolling alts is not really a good idea because there is only one starting area per faction. Needless to say, this game leaves you feeling like scraping your eyeballs out with a table spoon; not exactly what I'm after. I want that holy cow my heart is racing and I'm sweating kind of game in a MMO.
