The playstation 3 does have some issues, every console does. It is extremely expensive, and has some graphical flaws, but when it comes to durability, it's not going to be broken in a month (like another console i know of). No red ring of death, no E74 error. One of my only gripes is the confusion with backwards compatability. There are so many models, most if not all are discontinued that have backwards compatability, it's hard to tell which ones are backwards combatible or not. My overall review says it's worth a buy, of an older model. I think the 300gb doesn't have much value unless you big into downloadable content, and if you're looking to play Resy 4 or SWBF2 on PS3, it's safer to go with a cheaper, older model.

the older PS3's had more of an issue with freezing or having hardware failure, I have a slim and haven't had any problem with it all very smooth game play and there is plenty of good games to download and play on the ps3 network so that isn't true. The fact is that PS3 is a much more reliable system then the xbox and I own a Xbox myself but i prefer playing my ps3 free online play better controller and better exclusives in my opinion.

Better off buying newer version

Older versions are plagued with the infamous ylod, and refurbished PS3's are not a good buy either. Buyers complain often, about how they only last a week. Don't get me wrong not every console is like this. Anyway, the newer versions (SLIM) have many features under their hood. Like 60nm to 45nm which makes them run a lot cooler, hence preventing ylod. Also they save you a good amount of money on your electric bill, as opposed to the fat PS3 especially the 80gb. If you like style and backwards compat. than go with older versions. But in my case i don't need this and in turn would get a slim for improved durability, money in long run, the decreased heat it lets off and the prevention of the ylod.

i hate my ps3 it start freezing after a month. and to top it off after that play station network got hacked for to months. there's nothing on play station network any way. then 350$ really for this piece of nothing do not waste your money buy a 360 better everything. more people online everything

PS3 is better than x-box because Sony has far more stuff programmed in it and PS3 has blue-ray 360-500GB and free online play
