New found hope
PostedApril 15, 2011
I must admit that i really like this system. I had lost all hope and faith in Nintendo as an over 30 hardcore gamer. Nintendo had forgotten about the hardcore gamer but with this system and news of the Wii 2 there is hope that Nintendo will remember those of us that were with them from the arcade days and 8 bit Nintendo.

Best Handheld. Period... (except for battery life)
PostedApril 14, 2011
I didn't reserve a 3DS because I had a 360 and a 42 inch LCD, and felt like I had my video game needs in check. I watched a lot of videos of 3DS gameplay online and was kinda like "I had a DS, it was ok..." I have recently begun travelling with my work and decided that I would give this system a test-run. I have been completely satisfied with system in terms of graphics, functionality, packaged software, and overall experience. With all of this greatness there had to be a downside, and there was, the battery life. As you have probably read or heard about, the 3DS battery will last about 3 hours with 3D and WiFi on, and around 4.5 to 5 with them off. Thought this could be seen as a major drawback to the system, it does not draw away from the appeal of the experience. The battery life was well informed of by Nintendo and there are solutions to improving the time of gameplay. The system has a brightness gauge that can be set from 1 to 5 and the 3D mode and WiFi can be disabled at any time without interrupting gameplay. As well, the system has a Power Save mode that can be activated / deactivated is the System Settings. This mode scales down the brightness of the screens slightly and adds about 20% more to the battery length. Overall, this system is a way better value that a PSP, as it will have an amazing library of software by the end of the year. Thank you Nintendo for continuing your tradition of ground-breaking software innovations.
