Not my kind of FPS
This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
I was pretty excited to try out this game. From screenshots I had seen it looked to be an exciting game. For me, however, I didn't find it to be once I began playing it. I did enjoy the visuals. I had all the settings cranked up and the graphics just pop off the screen. The use of color and effects in the game is fantastic and makes a very beautiful looking game. Other than the visuals, however, I didn't find much that excited me about the game. I found the action to be generic with a few cool gameplay mechanics thrown in. Waves of predictable enemies run at you at predictable times and you're supposed to dispatch them in creative ways. It's satisfying to do this the first couple of times, but it quickly became repetitive for me. I just felt like I was playing a poorly written COD game mixed with elements from Gears of War. I guess that brings me to the next big thing I noticed which was the dialogue. The dialogue and banter between characters almost always sounds like it's written by a potty-mouthed 4th grader trying to make his group of friends laugh. I don't get offended by foul language or very adult bathroom humor, but I don't find it amusing when it's incredibly forced and almost constant. It just got old for me and quite grating. I do respect what the creators did with this game. They definitely wanted to make something different in the FPS genre and I think they did succeed to some extent. I just found that some of the aspects of the game weren't for me.
