Die alot, lose all Souls (XP) do over and over
PostedOctober 12, 2011
I find the game to have poor Graphics to start off with. Being it is on an Xbox 360 I would have thought the Graphics would be much better than what they are. The Nintendo N64 has much better graphics. When you first enter the game there is nothing that tells you how to play the game. You have no clue what you are doing, or what you are supposed to do. I have Killed mobs and then died on others just to lose everything I have earned. Pretty much the 3 days I have had the game I have done the same fights over and over. In all Honestly I thing the game sux. I would never recommend this to anyone.

Ok so ive never played demon souls but i can already im going to love this game. I mean i love games that make you think first before you do anything and i can already tell im going to do alot more dodging and blocking than attacking. And dont get me wrong but i think this and skyrim are close ties because i mean sure skyrims kind of your average RPG but i also like games that are different like this.

What can you say about dark souls? Its the most difficult, frustrating, obnoxious, unfair game ever created. At the same time it is the most rewarding, excellently thought out, complex game I've come across in years. There used to be a time when video games did not hold your hand, they gave you very little direction, they'd give you tools at your disposal, but comprehending what they were for what entirely up to the player (think nes the legend of zelda). Dark souls is the only game I've come across in the past decade or so that requires you to actually experiment and learn on your own. It is unbelievably difficult and you will find yourself dying a thousand times over to the same 5 enemies until you work out a system, and once you have you'll be able to slaughter any foes of their type in your path, which a completely rewarding feeling. This games story seems like it was probably poorly translated and doesnt make much sense but the gameplay itself more than makes up for it, I have wasted close to 20 hours on this game, accomplished very little and enjoyed every moment of it. Whether your exploring every nook for hidden items (and possibly horrific enemies) or just determining how to clear an area of several enemies or even grind (yes, grind) xp off monsters you know you can tear through, everything about this game is satisfying. If you approach it with the mentality that you WILL struggle through this game, your shortcomings just become learning experiences and the more experiences you apply to how you approach the games world/combat the more bamf you feel as a gamer in general. This game is classified as an RPG, while it shares tons of characteristics with other RPG's there is no other game that comes close to replicating the type of game play or intensity that dark souls has to offer. It is truly a unique and rare game (aside from demon souls, its predecessor)

Cannot compare to Skyrim
PostedSeptember 27, 2011
Tired of people saying that Skyrim is better or that Dark Souls is better. Yes these are both RPG's but they are both different types of RPG's. The only thing they truly have in common is the fact that they both have similar games come before them... Oblivion and Demon Souls. And to the person below... Dark Souls is not a linear game... it just requires you to use your brain to find the different ways around a situation. If your calling Dark Souls linear, you might as well call Skyrim linear... sure the world is "open" but you follow the line of the story from start to end just like any other RPG. So in the end.... Skyrim is Skyrim.... Dark Souls is Dark Souls.... just leave it as that.

Every Game is its own, Should not be compared.
onOctober 1, 2011
If your a true RPGer it doesn't matter, every game is its own and should not be compared to others. Its the satisfaction you get when playing and wondering whats gonna be next, or what might be around the corner. Just have fun, and stop comparing...

He is right you "trolls" out there just need to stop comparing games to one another, they are made with different engines and people usually.
