I love Sonic the Hedgehog, that being said this game was somewhat of a letdown. The graphics were awe inspiring, but modern Sonic stages were so pointless. It's supposed to be modern Sonic, so why not have all of his stages be 3D? Guess not, as 75% of a modern Sonic level will be in 2D, even though there is already a Sonic in all 2D. The revamped music for Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Sky Sanctuary are great. They sound much like the originals but with some guitar and drums. Overall its a good game if you really like the original Sonic days, but if you're looking for some 3D action then buy Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Heros, or Sonic Adventure 1.
I can't wait. I've beaten ever Sonic game to be released (no matter how bad they were) just to say that I've beaten them. Since Unleashed, I thought they were finally going in the right direction with the controls of Sonic and with Colors being released, it strengthened my hopes...but with this, they confirmed them. Over the past few days, I've done as much research as I could and actually discovered a lot such as the immense unlockable content they spoke of. I'll definitely be pre-ordering this as soon as I possibly can as well as picking it up on the first day it becomes available.

Okay, let's face it. Sonic the Hedgehog has had it rough for years. His golden age on the Genesis has passed, and he's been on unstable ground ever since 'Sonic Heroes'. Everyone thought he was dead, but now he's back, and we're ready to love him again. The Classic aspect of Sonic Generations is where this game really shines. The old physics from the Genesis games have made their long overdue comeback, and with D-Pad controls optional, I can finally use the D-Pad for something other than COD. The platforming challenges and tight controls make Classic levels feel like a true original Sonic game, when I looked down at my controller to check a message; I was surprised I didn't see a Genesis pad. Modern gameplay is surprisingly much better than what we've seen in the past. No clunky movement of a Werehog, no slippery controls, it's perfect. Modern Sonic has received a major upgrade, and it suits him well. Even though you have to complete missions in order to access the boss of each era, they are almost completely optional. Only one is required, and it's a mission of your choice. This game looks beautiful. The HD graphics look stunning, and there are no rough edges to be seen. Everything looks good when you're running at a high speed, much better than any other 3D Sonic game I've ever seen. You won't believe your eyes when you see this game. The music is also amazing, well, this IS Sonic the Hedgehog we're talking about here. Every stage has it's own remix for Classic and Modern gameplay, and it fits perfectly. You even have the option to change the music you listen to while playing a stage. After unlocking a song, you can change any act's music to the song you want. Overall, Sonic Generations is an enjoyable experience that will surely have Sonic fans of all ages hooked. I honestly have no idea why GameInformer gave it a 6.75 out of 10, this game is much better than that. This game is truly one of the best Sonic games ever released; it's right up there with the 'Sonic Adventure' games, if not better. If you're a fan of Sonic, pick this game up. Even if you're not a fan of Sonic, try this game out; you might end up loving it. Sonic Generations is the comeback Sonic has been waiting for. Breathe easy, SEGA got this one right, Sonic is back, baby!

Buy this game, just do it. One of the most pleasent surprises of 2011. Coming in just behind Rayman Origins. If you've ever been a Sonic fan, you owe it to yourself to buy this. Pure. Gaming. Bliss.

Pros:This game has good gameplay the sound affects are excellent!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: The game is just the same as unleashed. The game just jumps right into it with no good story. The game is to easy. It doesent last long, it gets old fast...as fast as sonic. Overall: The rival battles are ight. The Bosses had cool new designs but i still felt very empty. Disappointing. If your new to sonic then get it, if your a classic kinda guy like me than you'll probably not be to happy. Plus the voice acting IS HORRIBLE! not who the people are just there acting. NOT SOUND. THE ACTING.

Why did they change the voice acting?! I liked Jaleel White as the Sonic actor. Shadow's voice was a very disappointing change. He seems calmer and more light instead of a deeper voice.

It was an amazing flashback of the classic sonic games, mixed with modern Sonic as well! any die-hards dream. Being a die-hard fan myself, I always loved Sonic, mainly for his speed, attitude, and, of course, the gameplay. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is my all-time favorite, so I was pumped up about City Escape. I have a few problems with the game, though: 1. Didnt last long. 2. I really wished they didn't have 2-D in the dreamcast era, for it would of been just like the old times. (same gameplay mechanics.) 3. They added too much in my favorite levels, so it didn't feel right. For me, those were minor problems. One of my favorite parts was the challanges. I did them mainly for the songs. Getting your favorite song in the challenges gives you a great feel of accomplishment. It was a great game overall, and I storongly reccomend you get it.
I was really looking forward to this game. I had a feeling that it would be a good Sonic game. Boy, was I right! Finally a good Sonic game! The graphics are beautiful. Almost all of the levels are designed perfectly and are playable. The best thing about this Sonic game is that you can play as classic AND modern Sonic! Another great thing is that most of the old Sonic levels we know and love are back in HD with remixed music. The only downside is that the story isn't so great, and the game is short overall, but hey, atleast that doesn't effect the gameplay.

Sonic Generations is a awesome game, but the game wasn't what I thought it would be like. For the past few years Sonic games didn't have characters like Tails, Knuckles or Shadow playable. Also, multiplayer Sonic games made the game fun.Now the games are just single player.I also like Sonic games were they have big hub worlds like Sonic 06 and unleashed. I even thought Sonic Generations was going to have classic characters like classic Knuckles and Amy.I love Sonic, I'm a huge fan so i'm not critisizing him or anything.
I am a long time Sonic fan, my first memory of gaming is playing Sonic the hedgehog on the sega genesis. so i was and still am excited to see classic sonic returning. However, i am equally impressed, if not slightly more impressed by the way Sonic has transformed and adapted to the new systems. Modern sonic is a great character and having both the old and new in the same game is a unbelievable occurrence. I admit i do hope there will be a return of the Chao garden, but one thing at a time i guess. over all cant wait.
