Sega has finally listened to their Sonic fans, and they've delivered a great title to bring back some shining light to the blue blur. The game is pretty all nostalgia value, however the stage redesigns are amazing, and a few of them go quite in depth. Along side the new look on old stages were some amazing remixes on older and newer tracks alike, making it so much more fun to last through, regardless of using Modern or Classic Sonic. Sure there is a minor mess up or glitch here and there like the camera (in a spot I won't spoil) but this easily ignored. After you beat the story, the game sort of does feel lacking, but there are extra challenges to go back to, and hopefully DLC to add more stages and boss fights. Was very nice to see Sonic again in a good game, one that lived up to the hype.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

Although the game is short, it makes up for it incredibly with it's fantastic replayability value. Beat challenges, get better ranks, and beat your friends on the online mode. The gameplay is easy to master, and I would be lying if I said this game was difficult. The music is simply amazing in this game, although few tracks aren't that great. The story is not the best, to be honest, but who cares? Nobody plays a game for it's story, anyways. The graphics are simply stunning. Though there are few bosses, you are welcome to play them over and over again, with the addition of a hard mode setting. There are few glitches, but a simple playthrough of stages and the game itself never really exposed me to them. Overall, this is a fantastic game. Sega has really outdone themselves this time.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

This is probably the best sonic gam I've played. The graphics, sound gmaeplay, cutscenes, EVERYTHING!! I loved plaing through all the levels as modern sonic! Yeah, the story is short (I beat story mode in a week!), but with all the challenges and everything else, you'll be playing this game for a while. Planet wisp is pretty hard. But rooftop run is probably my favorite level! It nearly brought me to tears because sonic unleashed was my first sonic game! All in all, this game is the best sonic game of this generation, thats if you're a hardcore sonic fan like me.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

Story- 7/10 the plot is basically a good day for modern sonic goes wrong when his friends are captured by some time monster . luckily you have the good ole classic sonic with you. you will go through 9 levels. 3 from the genesis era 3 from dreamcast/gamecube era and 3 from the modern era. gamplay- 6/10 you will zip through half the game in 2d and the other half in 3d. my beef is with modern sonic gameplay on seaside hill crisis city and rooftop run. at times sonic was going so fast i was forced to slow down if i didnt wanna die. while it isnt unplayable it is frustrating. as for 2d its perfect. music - 10/10 one of the reasons i bought the game was the music from beautifully remixed tracks to those perfect violin mixed tunes you hear around the HUB world its all around the ultimate fan-service personal gripes- these do not effect the rating - the game is short. the rival battles are almost races .

Long Awaited Return

Finally Sega decided to go back to the old formula of a Sonic game instead of the many spin- offs we had to deal with the last 15 years. After playing the demo and watching the trailers i can already tell this game is going to be great. Cant Wait XD

Let's be honest. The past four maybe five Sonic games have less than sub par, which pains me to say because the Sega Genesis was the first console I ever owned so I grew up with the Blue Blur. I haven't played Sonic Colors on Wii so I can't vouch for that though I have heard it was pretty decent; not best Sonic game but it at least it felt like a game. So natually when I heard about Generations and hearing that Colors was acutally a step forward for Sonic Team, I wanted to give a try. Did it meet my expectations? Was another step towards the right direction? For the most part, yes. Now I say that because the controls for modern Sonic is a tad bit wonky. But other than that, it a very fun game and thought it was interesting to see how the modern sonic levels would look like in a 2-D sidescroller and vice versa. All in all, a fun game and is worth the time for any Sonic fan.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

I have to say this game is really great, but there are some cons to it. Let me explain. For years I have been a fan of all sonic games and for me to give an 8 out of 10 to one of my favorite heroes is unlikely. The game-play is great graphics are great music is awesome and all the characters are funny and awesome! The complaint I do have about the game is the actually story-line, its way too short. The story is great, awesome concept and everything but its really short. It only took me about 6 hours to beat the story line. Not only that but there weren't enough levels. I would of liked to see more stages from sonic adventure and sonic heroes and the original sonic games, not so much the new ones. I have to say though, when I heard the music from speed highway i was ecstatic and when I fought perfect chaos and shadow it really brought me back to when I was a kid playing on the dreamcast. Another complaint I have about the game is that there were way too many obstacles, alot of jumping and not enough running. Sonic is all about running and going at high speeds not jumping and running around boxes. One more thing is that some of the challenges were kinda pointless, too anyone that has beaten the game and has played the challenge where you bounce the notes back and forth between sonic and vector, didn't you think that was a little unnecessary? That's just me. Other than these few things, the game is really great! Loved it! If you are on the fence about buying this game because of the recent games sonic has been in that aren't very good (Sonic and the Secret Rings especially [my opinion]) don't worry about this one because this is an awesome game! Defiantly worth it if you are a true sonic fan!
