Great product. I recently bought this and the sound is amazing. Design is beautiful, and battery life is good as well. Worth the $100.

This product is very much worth it because it has good sound quality and you want have to wake your friends up because the sound from the game goes into the headset. The main flaw is probably the ear phones because it warms your ears up the price should be lowered

Much better than headsets twice the price

I started my headset search wanting a universal option for use with both my Xbox 360 and PS3. I really wanted a wired set, which definitely limited my options. Turtle Beach higher end headsets were all wireless and used batteries, the Tritton headsets that were universal seemed cheap and lackluster. I actually purchased the Gears of War 7.1 Tritton headset originally, but returned it very quickly. You can read my review of that product on this site too.
So realizing that I could sacrifice using only 1 game system at night using the headphones, I looked at what system had a good option. That lead me to all the positive reviews on the Sony set, so for $90 I gave them a shot.
First thing I noticed unboxing it, wow, pretty simple, you get the headset and a USB dongle. I plugged it in to my USB wall charger using a PS3 charging cable I had, and it was fully charged in less than 2 hours. So in order to have a fair comparison to what I tested the Tritton headphones with, I fired up Batman Arkham City. After getting the sound set correctly for the headphones and turning on the virtual surround, I found the sound to be very clear and very well balanced. Like the Tritton headphones, there was some background static noise when in the menu screens, maybe I don't have all the mic options turned off or down correctly, maybe it is just there. Very minor annoyance. I found the directional sound of the virtual sound to be very accurate and on par with what the set 2+ times the cost produced. Like the Tritton set, there is really no configuration options for the sound, you either like the settings or you don't. For me, I really preferred the nice mix of solid but not overpowering base, with more subtle mid tones and very nice highs. The fact this thing is wireless and has a built in rechargeable battery were just icing on the cake. Did I mention all I did was plug in the USB dongle and turn on the headphones for the initial setup?
As for comfort, I find that the headset is very comfortable, it is much lighter than the Tritton was, however it doesn't cover your ears quite like the Tritton did. I wear glasses, and they were still fine with them as well. I find the fact the bass wasn't as overdone makes them even that much better for long gaming sessions. There is less fatigue from the sound and weight of these.
I have not had the chance to do any multi-player gaming yet to test the mic out, but I do very little chat anyway, so if it works, that is good enough for me.
As for battery life, seems about 10 hours is about right for me, but may be less/more depending on the volume you play at and if you use the mic. Regardless, get a long USB cable and you can continue to use them while they charge.
This set is flat out fantastic so far. The fact that a set this nice can be made by Sony, (wireless, rechargeable, great price, virtual surround, comfortable) makes me wonder why all the 360 options are so ridiculously priced in comparison. If you are looking for a gaming headset for the PS3, you should buy this. Not sure why you would get anything else. Taking back the overpriced Tritton and not caving in and paying EVEN MORE for a Turtle Beach set to purchase this instead has left me with $100 extra in my pocket and a smile on my face.

This headset is extremely easy to hook up or "pair" with your Playstation you literally plug in the flash drive and turn on the headset. It comes packaged with a full charge out of the box, so no wait ! Some features that are nice and exclusive to the headset are the active updates in the right hand corner. The Virual Surround Sound can be turrned on or off with the press of a button. The chat in multiplayer can be mixed via a slider to make the chat louder or quiter. The on button can be held to turn it on(go figure), then clicked twice to check battery level and also clicked once to mute. If you own a Playstation and love online multiplayer then buy this headset.
