Can't pull away from my Vita to write the review!
PostedAugust 4, 2012
I have had my Vita for just over a week now. I honestly am having a hard time putting it down. The first games that I got were Resistance (Amazing) and Ninja Gaiden (Also Amazing). I quickly followed that up with Mortal Kombat (Also Also Amazing). On all those games from various genres, the screen was beautiful, the touch screen controls were spot on, and the dual analog sticks were a dream come true. I wanna say that playing the Vita made me forget that I was playing a handheld. Mostly that is true. The high quality of games and the general experience does rank up there with the ps3. But this is a different animal that it's console brethren. The touch screen and touch pad really make the experience far more interactive than on a ps3. After playing Resistance on the Vita, I find it hard to go back to the ps3 and not be able to touch the screen to throw a grenade. All in all, the system provides just as much of an engaging experience as a console, but a whole new way to play. I could not high recommend the Vita enough.

First Impressions Exceeded my Expectations
PostedAugust 2, 2012
When I first heard of the VITA, I honestly thought it would be dumb. I thought to myself, "why not just get the 3DS?" However, as the launch approached and I heard more about it, I began to get interested in it. Then my friend got it, and when I played it, I was blown away.
The Vita isn't just a PSP with better graphics. It has dual analogue sticks, a better interface, a faster processor, a glorious HD screen, and fantastic online connectivity including the new cross-play feature with PS3(and this is coming from a Nintendo fanboy). Some games look better than others, but they mostly look great. First, I played Unit 13. It looked alright, but it didn't impress me much(although it impressed me with its dual analogue stick support). But after that game I tried Rayman Origins. Gorgeous. It looked just as good, if not better, than the PS3 and 360 version. And having this classic 2D adventure on the go in glorious HD is a treat. Next, I played FIFA. I love the FIFA franchise, and this title did not disappoint. The visuals were close to the console games and the controls were great(I turned touch controls off). Lastly, I tried out Uncharted. I love the original Uncharted on PS3, so I had very high expectations for this game. And from what I played, it played just like the PS3 versions.
I honestly wish I never doubted the Vita. I guess earlier I was just thinking it was going to be like the PSP, which wasn't a bad system, but didn't have the third party support or enough solid first party games. The only downsides of the Vitas are the expensive price tag and lack of triple A games. However, both these problems will be resolved by this holiday season as bundles will appear to save people money and more AAA games will appear. These games include Little Big Planet, Sony Battle Royale, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, Fifa 13, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz(looking to be the first good Monkey Ball game since SMB 2), and many more games. Other good games out now are Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Rayman Origins, and Wipeout.
I know mostly VITA owers will read this review, but anyone who doesn't have one, definitely give it a chance. I am as soon as I have the money!

Hold off for now.
PostedAugust 1, 2012
As a person who bought the Vita almost day 1 with anticipation of a great system, I was sadly disappointed, not in the system itself but the lack of games and support it is getting from Sony. As it stands now there are very few Vita games to buy from and very few of those are even worth buying, not to mention while the PSN store is chalked full of downloadable games some of the great games from the PSP never graced the PSN and will never do so limiting this handheld further. What restricts the system even further still was the lack of support at E3, and the refusal of Sony to drop the price or announce some ground breaking games to come to Vita that would inspire sales. From an owner the best advice I can give you is hold off till there are more game s and more support from Sony.

ITS COMPLICATED

The system its self has amazing potential. The graphics are amazing and the funtionality is spot on. However I recommend holding off until more and better games are released for it. As of now there just isnt enough to make the vita worth the price.
