Lasting Classic RTS
This game is perfect for: casual gamers
When I first experienced this game i was fresh from C&C Gold. Wanting to experience something similar and enjoying any new game i could get. The gameplay is seamlessly active, many different tactics that are effective and the mods available from the fans can take everything you know about RTS's and flip it on its head. Full conversion projects, thousands of unit upgrades, though there are no longer any online servers for multiplayer you can easily setup a LAN with up to 8 friends from the 2 factions. Sadly there is no more upgrades available from Boneyard as they no longer exist. The 2 Expansions add extra units and worlds to play in. Outside of unofficial releases. If you are a fan of RTS, not much story (like none) and mayhem on land, sea and air then this game is for you. Just remember that it was optimized for win 9x, mac osx and NOT for anything modern and powerful.
Total annhilation was an RTS built to last and it did. the game can still be used at modern resolutions and works perfectly fine on my windows 7 64bit PC. I put hundreds of hours in the game since I got it probably over a decade ago. The mod community is alive and well and you can get some pretty fun mods to customize your game. I recommend the mod to increase unit cap to 2500. If you like RTS you will love this game.
I first played this game in high school circa 1998. I was always sad after losing my install disc, but now it's time to live the experience again. It's pretty much an Ages of Empire with mechs. Crazy fun, and crazy addictive.
