Dishonored

Dishonored is an immersive first-person action game that casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. Creatively eliminate your targets with the flexible combat system as you combine the numerous supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. Regardless of your actions, the outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make. Set in Dunwall, an industrial whaling city where strange technology and otherworldly mysticism coexist in the shadows. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with neo-industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man - but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

So the original reason I bought this game was because I love Assassins Creed, and I also love Bethesda games. I watched the previews and I thought the game looked pretty interesting. I figured I had a week until AC3 comes out, and I'd just get this to fill my time until then. I wasn't expecting it to have any lasting appeal to me, rather I thought it would be like a one time play through type of game. Well boy was I wrong. First, as most people know, the graphics aren't amazing. They're really not bad either. As you play through the game, you get accustomed to them, and it's like you don't even notice, but oddly enough, even though the graphics aren't that great, there are a ton of little details that you can really appreciate if you pay attention. The gameplay and mechanics are absolutely fantastic. As I stealthed my way though Dunwall and looked for different routes I could take, while avoiding guards, tallboys and weepers, I could feel my palms really start to sweat, and when you finally finish a level you feel really accomplished. The killing is very unique with all of the different powers you can use as well. Lastly, the storyline is one of the best parts of the game. Initially, you kinda get the feeling that "oh, this is just gonna be another revenge story", but there are some really good, and unexpected plot twists, and what you do, and if you choose to kill people or not really affects for one, how the game ends, but it also affects peoples reactions towards you, and how they interact with you. This game is fantastic, and there is a lot of replay value. I plan on replaying it at least two more times, mostly because I want the different endings, but also because it has easily become one of my all-time favorite games. One thing though: If you are impatient when it comes to games, like if you prefer to just run headfirst into enemies and do a lot of killing without thinking about the repercussions, then you might have a little trouble with this game. If you really take your time though, it almost becomes instinct to be really stealthy and pay attention to your surroundings. Of course, you don't necessarily have to be stealthy, but it's a lot harder if you don't try doing that. Also, being stealthy feels a lot cooler while your playing. Bethesda really outdid themselves with this one. Many many thumbs up.

Today in the gaming world it is very hard to fine a game that does not come from a big series like Call of Duty or Battlefeild with any replay value. But this game changes that. With three different play styles and three different endings this game is a must have and has one of the highest replay values of a game I've ever had. The plot may seem generic but the twists and turns are executed beautifully and we won't see them coming. The Graphics are not exactly the best but the game still feels real. The Gameplay in itself is remarkable. I rarely ever play a game that can get it's controls right and this game nails it and top of that the supernatural powers are fun because they are all made around different play styles. Overall it is a sleeper hit from 2012 and a must have in any Xbox 360 collection.

Choose your path! Will you assassinate every enemy in sight, or will you spare their lives. That's what this game has to offer. You can complete any mission the way you want to. But what shocked me about this game is that it felt like a Bioshock. The powers you get remind me of Bio. The graphics remind me of Bio. Also the way you have to regenerate health is like Bio. And what does that mean? That this game kicked total booty and I am glad that I bought it.

I'm really surprised at how well Bethesda pulled this game off. Being a fan of Bethesda for a while, I knew that this game would come nothing short of spectacular. I was right, this game is the definition of spectacular! The stealth mechanic was great, the abilities were great, the story was great. There was very little I found wrong with this game except for the fighting and shooting aspect. I felt that they could have spent a little more time on the fighting as well as the shooting mechanic, and most of the charms on each map were a little too easy to acquire, but all in all this game is magnificent.

I don't need to make this review long as anyone can see my opinion from the rating I gave this game. However I will say this game exceeded expectations in several areas and has more than enough potential to be a GOTY contender if not already. If you come into this game with an open-mind for adventure and the will to make choices and so much more then I don't see how anyone could be disappointed.

If you liked Skyrim then you will easily get a hang of this game, and should surely like it. Bethesda does a great job at making their first person adventure games. Dishonored gets you immediately engaged into the story with the first mission. This game is a great first person assassin game, which can be played as a serious stealth assassin hiding amongst the shadows, or you can go full force and eliminate everything, either way is pretty satisfying. The game is around 10 hours long, and as with any game, I always want to beat the game, but then again, I wish the story would've kept going. Overall, the game is rather fun, and can be done with killing nobody, or killing everybody, its your choice, but either way it's a great story. After beating the campaign though, there's not much to do. Achievement hunters and people who want another run can replay missions as they wish though, so that's good. If you don't want to run through another time, the only other thing available is the DLC Dunwall City Trials, which I believe is some kind of wave by wave battle. I will be playing that soon.

I went into Dishonored excited by a lot of the praise it had been receiving prior to release. In the very beginning of the game I could sense that I was about to be treated to a finely crafted game. Eventually I came to realize that I was wrong about my first impression and I found that I was forcing myself to complete the game not out of any enjoyment but because I had paid 63 dollars for it. I'm certain that there was a good game here but I personally wasn't able to find it. Typically for me to enjoy something I merely have to be entertained and this did not entertain me. I loved the idea of being able to choose the high kills or stealth options but in practice I found it frustrating because it seemed like I was always a bull in a china shop.

Dishonored is a truly amazing game. The graphics being Borderlands-ish perfectly suits the environment the game takes place in. The game is extremely unique. The game requires a lot of thought. This game is definitely not a game that is anything like the average first person shooter. This game requires you to plan out your takedowns and time them so that you are not caught in the game. The game offers you the option to kill or to non lethally complete the game, which is an achievement/trophy. This game is a lot like like a first person Batman Arkham game. except for the setting and characters. It has that predator feel about it. It is worth the price and I suggest this highly.

Overall this was not a bad game. If you have played Bioshock then you will see some similarities, picking up food the potions for health and mana, the overall graphics etc. Dishonored is actually a really easy game I beat on hard first time no problem, of course if your good at stealth and don't get caught half the time. The story could have been a little better and there could have been a few more side quests. The biggest one I think was the powerups though, when I first learned that you could get powers I thought there would be more of them kinda like Fable (yes I know completely diff. genre) where you could get a whole mulititude of spells. In Dishonored threres like 4 actual powers the others are just abilities. A good start for this game, Im sure if they make a second Dishonored they will refine it and make it shine just like the AC series and bioshock.

I Normally thoroughly playthrough a game before giving my thoughts, this time I will break that trend and also go on to say I wish we could rate in 0.5 increments as I would give this a 8.5 so far. Alas, this was a game I was highly looking forward to prerelease after seeing how they developed the storyline world and the amazing art style. I was not disappointing, especially as I can say they make you feel for the suffering of Dunwall. What an amazing rendering of a city!!! The artwork/graphics are beautiful and the characters very personal. This games variety of attacks are really fun to watch, and your actions interacting with the various usable objects feels perfect. All of the acrobatics you perform from a regular climb to a supernatural blink feel fluid and well trained. My faults that have moved this from being perfect start small, as I personally find the objectives to be a bit confusing in the sense that they are not clearly presented..this gets a bit worse when you start exploring the maps and there are several secondary locations you can load which may or may not have any bearing on your mission....could be improved but no big deal. What I do find puzzling however is that a good portion of the games achievement/goal progress is related to being completely nonlethal and stealthy. This is great but I think most fans will lean to the side that combining stealth with your attacks in the game is totally amazing, this therefore means it is a shame to not have a greater focus on that style of gameplay. Sequel maybe? This a great single player experience combining a beautiful world and classic story with awesome gameplay. While I don't feel as effective as Snake, I am more entertained than playing Creed.

I rarely give a game a solid "10". There might be only three that I can think of. This game gets a solid 9 because there were minor things that I wished they would have included or did more of. The voice acting was pretty good, but the character, Corvo, that you play in the first person doesn't get a voice, you choose dialogue options on the screen. The creators might have done this in order to make you feel like YOU ARE the character, himself, and hearing someone else's voice might take you out of the game a bit. But, this game is solid, original, fresh, and enchanting. You really feel like you are a part of the world that the character is in. I like the customizations, but there aren't too many of them like a lot of RGP's. The graphics are meant to look like an oil painting, which looks pretty cool from an artistic standpoint. The storyline is great, there is a sense or suspense that the audio and music lend a hand to. It's similar to Bioshock but a bit more user-friendly and less horror. My advice is, this game takes patience, but it's a good thing, this isn't a game where you go in guns-blazing and rush through missions, take your time, explore, and use your brain. There are more than a few ways to complete a mission in this game, and it has a high re-playability, there can be different outcomes in the game because of different ways you play it.

You can teleport, possess, see through walls, cause a windblast (much like the shout in skyrim) and summon a swarm of rats. The collectibles in each level aren't too hard to find, but you can lose track of time with all the side missions. Unlike most assassin's games, this one doesn't promote violence. Sure you can choose to exact revenge by murdering all your enemies, or do side quests for other NPC's, and they will "take care" of them for you. For example, the Bottle Gang's leader, Slackjaw will capture your two targets of a mission, cut off their tongues, and make them work in mines. Both parties win, because you didn't touch them, and they didn't die. Also the city shapes itself to your actions. The more you kill, the more rats there will be and weepers (basically zombies), and the less you kill, the less of these enemies. Also the ending is affected by your number of kills.

This game reminds me of bioshock but with a shorter story. Dishonored should have had more side quest and made it open world. The games does offer the player choices by deciding how many enemies to kill or you can avoid killing anyone. The more you kill the more enemies there will be in the next mission.

Ok when I had first heard of this game I had heard it from a friend. He would always be playing it and explained how cool it was and he was right. I call this a New idea is because the game play is like a new thing and the story is a new thing it inst like COD were they pretty much use the same simulation for campaign for every game. This game is a Assassin/stealth game. There are a couple of ways you can play the game you can be very violent like i swear there are bloody and many ways you can kill people. Or you can be stealthy not killing anyone (I think there is a achievement where you don't kill anyone through the game. The graphics are like a comic/cartoon they are like Borderlands artistic style. Also I like how you can buy powers. There are a lot of powers but I will only explain a couple, I really like Blink ( a teleporting power) and possession. I really like this game and I would Recommend it to anyone.

This game is great but has flaws. The game rarely autosaves and I found myself constantly having to save every time I passed a difficult part. Dishonored is 100% stealth based and there are areas where there are giant groups of enemies and sneaking around them is almost in possible and for a murderous assassin like Corvo, he dies easily, a few hits from an enemy will kill him. Aside from these flaws the game is amazing. There are so many different things you can do in the story and your actions will effect what happens at the end of the game. You could kill everyone in your path which will lead to a darker ending or you could do non-lethal takedowns which leads to a less dark ending. This gives the game a high replay value. The story is by far on of the best I have ever played. I would suggest buying this game even though it has some minor flaws.
