I have played a variety of free and pay to play MMO's and this one is possible the best to date with the various new features. My fav so far is the companions and class balancing.
I have played in one beta and fell in love with everything about the game. I could go on forever about why this game is fabolus but.. it's better to experience it yourself I have the collectors edition reserved and cannot wait till the early access.

Best MMO with the most potential
PostedDecember 7, 2011
Beta tested this game in 3 different beta weekends. It's beautiful, it's fun, it's original and it raises the bar above all my expectations. This game also have a lot of potential. Their "Crazy wall" is filled with very promising ideas for future updates. Bought the collector's edition. I want to make sure i encourage Bioware as much as i can so the game stays successful for a very long time. Go Bioware!

Having played the BETA I can assure anyone on the fence about this game that if you like Star Wars, and specificly KOTOR, you will love this game.
I've read other reviews that complain about the graphics or connection speed, but I just played the last BETA weekend on a single-core very low-end p.c. and it ran perfectly, so I have to believe the issues they had were with the settings of their pc and not the game itself.
(Side Note: my p.c. specs were well below the minimum system requirments)
I absolutely can not wait until this game's early release for preorders and hope all of you w.o.w. gamers interested in some non-panda bear related fun can check your prejudices and give SW: TOR a chance.(Side Note: I have nothing personal against adorable Panda Bears nor their Panda Society.) That said, this game is not going to kill w.o.w. it's not intended to as it is really a different style of mmorpg focusing on the fully-voiced story and far less on grinding which immediatly sets it apart from the rest in the genre and has the ability to engage you like nothing else...again, if you give it a chance to do so.
Star Wars + Fully-Voiced Story = Awesomely Endless Entertainment!

A refreshing change of pace for a stale genre.

Gameplay - Bioware has added a few things that make this game much more enjoyable than your standard mmo. Customizable companions. Crew skills. No autoattack making combat a bit more stategic, making sure every ability counts. While the layout and combat skills structure is nothing innovative and follows the norm for most mmo's these days, the animations are much smoother. Lightsabers and blaster bolts actually will collide with opponents weapons and the animations reflect this. Fully voiced over quests complete with cut scenes. It adds a level of immersion that all mmo's have lacked up this point. The class specific quest lines are entertaining and leave you anticipating the next twist in the plot. Having played each class up to lvl 12 I can honestly say that I will want to play through every class. Not just to kill time on an alt while I wait for something to do on my fully geared main, but to experience every class specific storyline.
The PvP aspect of the game needs work and I'm sure it will get it after launch. But lets face it, if that's all you are into then your money is best spent elsewhere as this is only a very small aspect of this game.
The sound is great, the music kicks in at just the right times and is what you would expect of a Star Wars soundtrack. Aside from minor glitches where you hear random NPC's that aren't around(let's not forget this is just a beta review) it's top notch.
Graphics are pretty crisp even though AA was unavailable during beta. Most peoples complaints about the graphics are stemming more from a personal preference towards realism as opposed to stylised. If you have no problem with stylised graphic style (the movie The Incredibles is a good example), and have a decent system then you will be happy with the graphics. The enviroments look fantastic and really give you a sense of how vast the Star Wars universe is(even though the game is not a sandbox style mmo). The only reason I gave it an 8 on graphics is because a majority of the armor textures look flat and low res. But with Bioware trying to keep the beta download to a reasonable size(is 20gb's reasonable?) I'm sure they had to sacrifice high res textures for all the VO content. Hopefully that is resolved with the full version upon release.
As far as lasting appeal, I can't give a solid opinion. I myself never reached any of the endgame content. But as I leveled all of my characters I really didn't feel the urge to level up to max and start raiding right away, as I have in previous games. You actually become engaged in the story and have a sense of connection with your character that has up until now seemed to be reserved for single player rpg's. So that is why I gave it an 8 in this category because I can see many people not wanting to rush through, and also wanting to experience every class specific storyline.
