This game is perfect for: casual gamers
This game is rather fun, but it could be longer. The story mode is enjoyable, covering some levels and bosses from classic Sonic to Sonic Colors. While combining the gameplay styles of both classic and modern Sonic. There's also a few levels and bosses that are exclusive to the 3DS game. Such as the Bio-Lizard, the Egg Emporer, Radical Highway and the Tropical Resort. However; with all of the upsides there's a downside. The story mode is a little short and once you complete it there's not much left to do, but rhere is a mission mode with one hundred missions to do. The missions all use the 3DS' Playcoins costing five coins per mission. Overall it is a very fun and enjoyable game. If you are a big Sonic fan then I would recomend this, if you are a fan of the classic Sonic this may also interest you, if you are a newcomer to the series you may want to decide that for yourself.

I got this game for my birthday on feb 8 and i already beat it the next day.Get something else like mario or something else.Its sorta good and action packed i geuss........

I don't know why people on here are bashing this game, it is very fun. If you are like me and loved sonic on the genesis then this is a must have. The graphics are good, the 3d does a very good job for a side scrolling game. The story is really aimed at children, but you can skip the cutscenes and get back to the game. As for the lock on attack feature for sonic well I love it. Overall great game.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers
I just had one of those childhood crazes and I decided to buy the game for my 3DS since there was a version for that console. I really enjoyed revisiting Green Hill Zone and Emerald Coast which was my childhood. There isn't as much as the X-Box 360 and PS3 version and unlike those versions the levels are in that 2D-3D format. The graphics were a bit pixilated but a lot of 3DS games are anyways but the graphics are still good mainly on Modern Sonic's levels. The levels are a bit challenging and it will take a while to perfect a S rank even on the first level. There isn't that much extra content as the other versions but it's the only Nintendo version of the game there is. If your just looking for a Sonic the Hedgehog game for the 3DS I'd just wait for Sonic: Lost World coming this Holiday, check it out! Rather than that I give the game a 8, just not bad.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
Sonic generations is an awesome reboot of some of sonics best levels, and all tracks (aside from green hill zone) are exclusive on the 3DS. Sonic is fast, furious and stunning in 3-D, and each level is fun and well designed. Not to mention a ton of missions in a seperate mode that allows you to unlock pictures, tunes, models, and concept art. Now that i've praised it on its best qualities, i should mention one flaw; IT'S WAY TOO SHORT!!! There are 8 levels, but only 2 acts per level. Total time i spent playing was 4:17. Thats all. INCLUDING going back and getting "S" rating in every level, and dieing around 50x in the Emerald coast lvl. However, if you are a truly die-hard sonic fan, this is no prob, becouse of the missions, though they are rather repetative. (thats the reason i said it was perfect for hardcore gamers, a casual gamer loses interest fast.) My conclusion; if you want sonic generations, get it on the console version for the best experiance. But... This still is a great game for 3DS. So i'm not saying don't get it for 3DS, but that 4 hours of gameplay is not worth $40 if you dont want to do all the missions.

Looks to be one of the best Sonic games yet. I love everything I've read and seen about it. The best part? IT"LL BE ON EVERY GAME SYSTEM! (Sorry to exclude PSP) I don't know what else to say, I can't decide how to put it's greatness in words!

the game over all looks awsome except that sega could easly leave the traditional handheld sonic formula for the homesystem in some levels not just the stupid "special stage" in sonic colors ds there is a analog stick sega hello you cant stay with that for ever sega!!!!!!!!! also no pre-order bounus its the 20th anaversery gamestop! how about a mini statue with classic and modern sonic in there finished the track position you know the thumb and index extended and stuff. dont dissapoint games stop like OoT 3ds

Definitely one of my favorite sonic games! The game play and 3D effects are epic, I really loved the final boss where you fight as Super Sonic, the way it controls is probably the best out of any other super sonic stages I've played.

Yes, i know the console versions are 3D and longer, but give this version a little slack. It's modernized classic sonic! I loved it personally, although the difficulty was sporadic and the game was short. I do think the 3DS could've handled 3D levels, and if SEGA decided to add them, i might've given this a 9 or 10. But this game felt like old sonic and i personally enjoyed it, so if you're just looking for a good, classic, side-scrolling sonic platformer, this is pretty worth it.
