This game is not good, its not horrible, but not the game you think it would be. This game has awful level design, some decent music (except modern radical highway), amazing graphics, and the game play feels like a mesh of Sonic 4 Ep 1 and the DS Version of Sonic Colors. Classic Sonic feels alright but his levels go on to long however modern's levels are too short its to boost happy. Also i need to mention that when classic receives the homing attack it feels the same among the 2 hedgehogs except modern has the boosts. So the abridged version if you want a good sonic game that combines levels from each era buy the console version and leave this version alone unless your a die hard fan. But please dont waste your $40 dollars on this game it's not worth it
As someone who's played Sonic Generations for both home console and handheld, I still love the 3DS version. I'm not a Sonic fan who is blinded, because I am one of those who was disappointed with Sonic's more recent outings. Sonic Colors was Sonic's comeback for me. Sonic Generations takes the torch from Sonic Colors and runs with it, providing yet another awesome Sonic experience. While the epic space opera feel of Sonic Colors is gone, Sonic Generations provides that classic Sonic feel with some little twists here and there. Sonic has had a few great handheld games to date but, dare I say, Sonic Generations on 3DS is my favorite. The 3D is great; the graphics are great; the music is great; the gameplay is great. While it's a bit short, clocking in at 3-5 hours, it's still a must buy for fans of Sonic who have a 3DS.
When the first Sonic game released, people praised it for it's fast and fun platforming. In a way, it seemed like a super fast version on Super Mario Bros. It had two good sequels, but then the series had a bumpy ride after the 3 original games. Sonic 3D Blast? Fail. Sonic Spinball? Meh. But then, Sega turned sonic into a full 3D world with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Those games were amazing. Both the DreamCast and GameCube versions of the games were great. But those were the last quality Sonic games. Sonic on 360 and PS3? Fail. Sonic and the Secret Rings? Fail. Sonic Riders? Fail. To be fair, Sonic 4 was alright, and Sonic Colors was decent. But will this game be another fail, of be a fun revival? Only time will tell. So keep an eye on this game, but who knows how it will turn out.

Ever played "Sonic Uleashed", or any other modern sonic games instead of the old ones?

I heard that classic and modern are both side-scrolling but i saw some cool camera views that weren't side-scrolling. I would recommend PS3 Version but this sounds really good also. At least it doesn't look like sonic colors on the Ds because that looked horrible with the road cut off and the other screen on the bottom made it look displaced. I'll be looking forward getting this but first... I need a 3DS! lol
When I opened up my present from Santa on Christmas day, I was expecting Super Mario 3D Land or Mariokart 7. I found out i was wrong. I found this game. I have really only played Sonic Colors, through all Sonic games. This was a new game to me. I was excited when found it, because i had heard this was one of the good games for the 3DS, and it is.....It's great, but... after finishing the story mode, I saw that there's not much to do with the game, especially since the story mode was short, and levels were easy, except for the bosses. I would recommend this game for a Sonic fan, but if you're not, and you're deciding between this game, and Super Mario 3D Land, I would go with Mario, because it has more content and it is a great starter game for the 3DS.

It is extemely short. And I think many critics have already pointed this out but the level design is horrible. In order to be able to play through the levels without stopping because of obstacles you didn't see coming, you have to practice, practice, and practice. Which would be fine if the game-play itself was actually fun, but it isn't. There is a reason this game has an average critic score of 67 on Metacritic. Even at this lowered price, you still have to be a blind fanboy to buy this game. If it was $10 then it might be worth considering. In conclusion this game suffers in almost all areas. Especially the lazy level design. I really do reccomend you do yourself a favor and skip this title. There are much better games available right now for the 3DS.
This game is great! It is challenging and fun at the same time! I find myself playing levels over again to get a better rank and because it's just awesome! I love the graphics and gameplay the best, but everything about it is great too! I would defenitly recommend this game! No doubt about it!
While Sonic Generations on 3DS is a bit shorter than its Xbox/PS3 counterpart, it is still a great game. In fact, I'd say the levels on the 3DS are, for the most part, better selections from Sonic's past than on the Xbox/PS3 (Examples: Casino Night > Chemical Plant, Emerald Coast > Speed Highway, Biolizard > Perfect Chaos, Egg Emperor > Egg Dragoon).
While the full 3D sections are missed, the fun 2D/2.5D gameplay makes up for it. The game also features a very extensive amount of unlockable content, and if your a Sonic fan like me, you'll enjoy getting every bit! Did I mention this is the only version of the game with online multiplayer?
In conclusion, while a couple more levels would have been lovely, the game is still very fun and has plenty of replay value. Well worth the purchase.
My only problem is it is to short but it is awesome because it is basically a remake of all the Sonic games. It is like having a flashback of the games but also the final boss is really hard for a short game it can be hard sometimes.
This has to be the best sonic video game Ive ever played!, I think the game is perfect for and adveture/action game, I love how the brought back all of the old villains, worlds, and music in a new unique way! Great game!
