I understand why people on here would rate this game a 1. Taking into consideration yet again, the ridiculous price being asked for this game. But, putting that aside. This game is not completely horrible. Are there better experiences available for the 3DS? Definetely. Although it DOES suffer in MANY areas, you can still pretend that this game only cost you half price, and you can still get some enjoyment out of it that way. That is of course, depending on how low your standards are. But if you aren't a Sonic fan and don't want to take any chances, I do reccommend renting the game from someplace. Just so you get the taste of it. This game isn't for everyone. But it can be pretty fun, whenever you aren't angry at the poorly desinged levels that is.

I recently got into sonic games and they turned out to be real good. The ones they released recently wernt too good. Does any one else think that sonic looks a bit stubby? Dont let us down

Most people think Sonic's going up hill with more recent releases, I don't. Honestly I like the Adventure games, Riders games, and Sonic Unleashed (though the Werehog was over-used). Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 had some bad physics and a poor momentum building system. Sonic Colors had an epic failure of a story, the Storybook series are too short and have poor quality cutscenes, and Sonic Free Riders has both of these negative qualities. Every Sonic game I've played has been enjoyable from a gameplay perspective but the new titles seem to be getting more cheap and childish plots. I've never seen why people complain about the 3D games gameplay, it's the story's that people should be worried about. Sonic Generations looks promising but, like I said before in my preview of the PS3 version of the game, this game could totally be a bust when it comes to story. I hope not because the console version looks like it has solid gameplay (the 3DS version looks like it took the cheap way out by using all 2D gameplay but it could be good)) and it should be fun to play!

While I certaintly DON'T think this game deserves a blatant score of 1. I DO think the average user score should be more accurate. As this game suffers from many problems, and is one of the least good games for the 3DS. Here is why.
First off, the thing that bugged me the most, was the sloppy, cheap, "full-of-pit-fall-deaths" level design. The game relies more on bottomless pits to make the game harder, but that's what we call CHEAP difficulty. The running can come to an abrupt stop by walls or obstacles that you only had a millisecond to see coming. This becomes a problem especially during the Modern Sonic stages where, for some odd reason, the camera angle is tilted to an awkward 45 degree angle. The platforming parts feel like a chore rather than a pleasure to do, and Sonic's floaty, unprecise jumping does not help to aleviate the frustration. As for the sections where you're actually running, the speed can get pretty satisfying in parts. But like in every Sonic game, the level desing prohibits you from feeling any challenge since all you have to do throughout most of the extremely short, and often rehashed levels, is hold the D-Pad in one sole direction, and mash on a couple buttons, which makes the gameplay extremely repetitive. These are problems that have plagued almost every Sonic game. So in conclusion, this game has horrible, unorganized level desing, poor controls, cheap difficulty, repetitive gameplay that isn't very fun, little replay value, boring boss battles, unessessary 3D effect, and mediocre 3DS graphics. All of this adds up to a game that is not worth the $40.00 price. And with an average Metacritic score of 67, you should consider these factors before you make the purchase. It's a good game to rent though!

I hope Sega is not making the same mistake. I realize that they want this game out before the new year. Thats obviously why the date says 12/31, but could this be a mistake??? Think about it with Sonic 06 they tried to get it out b4 Christmas. We seen the results of that. Another mistake they made, which they clearly said they made, was trying to make the game for many systems. Sega said this was 2 much pressure for the team which obviously led to the diaster that we call 06. SO I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS TO SEGA...SLOW DOWN TAKE YOUR TIME WITH GAMES...THERE IS NO REASON T RUSH...BECAUSE I WOULD RATHER WAIT LONGER FOR A GAME THAN HAVE IT MESSED UP JUST TO GET IT A COUPLE DAYS LATER! and to gamers THINK TWICE BEFORE GETTING THIS!

this is pretty much the only reason i want a 3ds! The modern sonic sections look like the sonic rush/colors ds games except with way better graphic, and the classic sonic sections always look amazing! I am glad they finally told us a release date so i hope if i get a 3ds this christmas this is the first game i will get for it. I cant wait to play the ps3 version of the game! Long Live Sonic!
First of all, I'm not trying to hate on this game, it's really very good. The tweaks I want to mention are 1) the game is rather short compared to console and PC, and 2) it looks to me like more detail was added to the console and PC versions. On Xbox 360 and PS3, for example, I'd say that the graphics are superior and there are many more bosses and stages. I own only the 3DS version, but looking up gameplay of the other versions left me wanting more out of my version. Finally, I had to give the music a rating of 10 because we all know that Sonic games have great music.
