you can hear perfectly but when talking you sound as if you were gurgling so i tried to put the object on chest and it sounded better than on my neck

Not for people with big necks

I was hyped when I saw this mic and I couldn't wait to get one. But I was so disappointed that it could not reach far enough around my neck for people to hear me. When my son or brother use it they sound great and both said we all say that the clarity is awesome. If you have a small to medium sized neck I would definitely recommend it, but if your a big guy your feelings will be hurt. My ratings would have been higher if it could be further extended, and I put no to recommend to a friend because most of them who play xbox 360 have big necks.

I read the reviews on this and decided i probably wouldnt get it however the sales rep in store said he had one adn highly suggested it. For the price its great, sure there are better throat microphones out there.......but its only $20. as for everyone complaining about said mic, i have had these issues adn with adjustments to where i place the mic on me affects the sound. the mic must make contact with your throat at all times however if you have a very high pitched......(i.e. you havent finished puberty) then you will have problems. if you speak through your nose adn not your throat you will also have a problem. my friends that had problems with this mic were my gf's little brother and one of my friends whom is on the much larger size of life so mu suggestion is, if you dont have some form of depth to your voice dont but this mic. and if you cant feel your throat without stretching your chin to the ceiling while chugging maple syrup DONT buy this mic. THANKS!

Better Value than Turtle Beach

Honestly I love this mic. Other reviews complain about sound quality and the mic not picking up their voice but thats not the case at all. I have had my mic for about 6-7 months now and it works just as well as the day I bought it. People say it doesn't pick up their voice but in my case it works perfectly and it does pick up some background noise but my voice can still be heard clearly. This is a great mic for a great price and I don't have any complaints or regrets for buying this mic. Why would you spend $100's of dollars on a Turtle Beach when you can get this mic for a better price. My experience with Turtle Beach has been awful. They break easily from the smallest drop and honestly the sound quality isn't all that great. I have accidentally dropped, stepped on the mic, and yanked the mic cord and it still works perfect. Best thing is if your mic does get damaged it will cost you a lot less to replace than it would an overpriced Turtle Beach. I don't mean to seem like I'm stomping on Turtle Beach but from experience this mic is better.
