I had at first been hesitant to buy this product after reading reviews. However, I can honestly say that in the time I have had it all my friends have said they can hear me a whole lot clearer. Unlike with the microsoft standard mike to use this I don't end up yelling. Even mummbling can be heard clearly by anyone on the other end of the party or game chat. While it blocks noise from one ear it does'nt completely stop you from hearing noise from that dirrection which for an FPS like Gears, Modern Warfare, or Halo is important. The comm fits snugly but comfortably around the neck and does not restrict neck movement. Also I'm a gamer who usually ends up needing to drink something or eat and I know that I hate hearing someone chewing their food, this mike is no where near your mouth so the stupid thing isn't in your way at all. While other reviewers might complain how the mute button and volume controlls are to small they are allowed their opinion but I must disagree, the switch to mute is easy to find and even at a quarter volume I could clearly hear my friends as they ragged on each other for there exceedingly pathetic deaths. In short weather your a hardcore gamer or even a every now and again gamer this product is a great investment over the normal mike.

I can hear people clear as day but my friends can here me over all of the static i live it because the gears 3 but its just so bad i went and returned it and got a controller mic bundle for $30 and the mic is SOOO much better crystal clear sound and my friends can hear me perfect.

Piece of garbage

This thing does not work. The earpiece is fine, but the mics do not project a clear sound at all. As soon as I used this online, all of my friends were begging me to take it off and use my normal mic. I recorded a message of myself using these, and when I played it back it sounded like i swallowed the whole thing. The only reason I bought this is because it matched my Gears of War 3 controller. While they both look great together, the quality of this headset is significantly lower, as in it's a piece of trash!

I bouth this throat mic thinking that it would be just like the ones I have used in service at times. Sad to say the microphone has many issues with making the voice come out clear. Instead of relying on vibrations of the voice box, it seems they put to regular microphones on the neck boom and went with it. Vocal clarity of the headphone piece is amazing where as my friends in my party couldnt understand a thing I was saying (see original voice of an Elite in Halo). I would not recommend this to anyone seeing as it is a $30 gimmick.
