Great game falls short with graphics
PostedMarch 22, 2012
Final Fantasy XIII-2 was an amazing game continuing on with the story from FF XIII. The battle system is still very good with a wire variety of moves and a vast amount of enemies to face. My only real complaint is that when Square Enix announced that FF XIII-2 would only be on one disc they also said that the story would not suffer by "making your xbox work smarter." This was done by not pre-rendering images on the disc, saving a great amount of space but the result was graphics that fell short of FF XIII. All of the cutscenes in the game except for the few more important scenes had graphics which really took away from the characters, their movements and outfits. Lightnings armor which is the best outfit I have seen in any game looks fake and cheap, not to mention that lightning and all of the other characters entire body, especially the face and hair, took a big hit compared to their smoothnes in FF XIII. Still overall an amazing game and definantely worth having purchased limited edition game and guide, as well as steelbook pre order pack from Europe.

Game is great, lacks better DLC
PostedFebruary 25, 2012
(Review contains minor spoilers based on reviews, if you don’t like spoilers, then don’t read my review)
Well, I currently own the Collector's Eddition & the Collector’s Guide. Don't get me wrong, but the game is fun (and the Guide is very well-made) and is better than its previous game due to greater improvements made that makes it seem better besides having the same battle system. But intentionally, I feel ripped off when I first bought the Collector's (pre-ordered it) having only the Genji Bow (very weak weapon) and a costume that could have been made better for this game. I do like the battle system which it feels I'm needing to play a Sports Game prior to pressing buttons all the time, but movement is still pain during a battle. Honestly think having to use the L and R Triggers to Strafe your characters from left and right to avoid attacks would have been a better option best suited for this game to avoid taking heavy blows that eventually turn you over to a Game Over screen in an instance.
Less said than done, honestly think better planned-out DLC would have made things look better for this game’s initial release than to split downloadable codes onto different websites such as the Omega Battle given Amazon. Also the choice to choose between Accessories with only being limited to 100 (after leveling up some more between both Serah and Noel) was a flaw. So many accessories found in the game, and I was only able to select about only three limited good ones to balance out my character’s stats with my obtained Monsters.
Also, just curious. Months back when I checked this page out, didn’t it showed more downloadable codes, but then comes to where the Genji Bow and Costume was all they had up? I don’t know if that was pushing it, or if it were a very late change, so yeah just made me think truly that having pre-ordered Gamestop’s Edition of the Collector's at full price was a but big mistake now on my part now that the price looks to have been cut now. Not to mention the downloadable content given which didn’t help, which quite frankly, I could’ve switched out for Mass Effect 3 if I had known earlier of this games lack on DLC. Still, comes with a four disc Soundtrack, nicely packaged and comes with an Artbook. Can’t complain much. Just feel ripped off.
For one thing though, Square Enix as the creators who have made this game; have honestly by my opinion have explained their game well enough with using thoughts about “Time & Space;” something that SEGA didn’t do well enough with Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) for the Xbox 360 & Playstation 3. The only thing that still troubles me is how: “changing the future can change the past,” if I remember correctly was the other way around?
SPOILER/RANT:
Just a rant about the costume selections though, I honestly didn’t like for one thing how this game gives you a moment to play as Serah stuck playing through a dream world of New Bodhum to choose between staying with the fake Lightning (nearest to the end of the game), but the fact tp where she immediately switches to her School Girl Outfit, which apparently didn’t seem reasonable to why you couldn’t select it before and after throughout the game if it were only seen there. Should’ve been given as a free selectable outfit after this part in the game was finished with, and of course.
----
But still as said than done, I’m not stopping anyone to getting the game. If you want to get it, it’s good. If you’ve pre-ordered it from Gamestop, well, then yeah. Same thing I’ve done, and I admit, it was a stupid decision due to the lack of content.

Amazing!

I loved Final Fantasy XIII-2...it was much better than Final Fantasy XIII because it created a better environment of game play than I had on its prequel. Final Fantasy XIII nonetheless was epic as well, and I didn't get why so many people hated it...I just kept believing it's because of how "tough" it was for them, and couldn't appreciate how Square Enix made such a great game. I just beat Final Fantasy XIII-2 twice, and had all 160 fragments...so that's to say it's not hard, sure it takes good thinking, but not hard; I still couldn't put the controller down even after I beat it the second time, because of how appealing it is to me...no matter what, I always find something new among all that one can find out about the game, and not to mention the achievements were incredibly easy to get, so even though many people will say against to what I've said, don't say it until you at least tried it out, I will say this...it's amazing.
