I was worried that I'd be disappointed with this game due to all the glowing reviews I'd heard. I'm a huge fan of RPGs, but I've been sorely disappointed with most of the big-name RPGs out lately. However, this game is incredible. It's physical proof that the JRPG genre hasn't died: it's fresh, exciting, and insanely long-lasting, which is more than I can say for most of the RPGs I've played. I'm currently at 104 hours and still have way too much to do and collect and see. If you're a fan of RPGs at all in any way and have a Wii, go buy this now. Trust me- all the hype is true, and it's worth every cent you spend.

this game is awsome, it has great gameplay and also an amazing story line. the day i heard that gamestop would be releasing this game I immediatly threw down my preorder because I was hearing all the hype from japan and the PAL regions about this one. and it lived up to its expectations. this game is a must have for wii and is one of the best games that got released for it. if you ever get a chance at buying this game, go for it. its worth the money because the game itself is a giant return. there is so much to do and the story line is long. i could write alot about this game but i would give too much away. its awsome game, if you see it, get it. you wont regret this purchase.

I am a fan of the Xeno franchise and when I heard of this game, I couldn't wait for it to come out. The game's story and music completely blew me away! The graphics on the character's faces was not top quality and at the last dungeon would not allow me to save. Ironicly, the system was bumped and I had to start the dungeon over again. But besides these two things, the game was great and the music was captivating. I would definately recommend this game to any of my friends!

I ordered this game just to see what all the fuss was about. I was so naive. I did not anticipate that I would get to play a gem like this one. From the moment you listen to the soundtrack in the title screen you know you are going to be blown away. The graphics, the battle system, the music obviously. But the true talent is in the story. I haven't finished it yet but I am at the point that the tension of what's going to happen is driving me insane! If you own a Wii you owe it to yourself to play this jewel of a game. A true masterpiece! Worthy to stand next to Chrono Trigger and FF7.

This is the first game that I have played in years that makes me excited to get through the day at work/school just so I can get home and turn on my Wii. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on the combat system. To me, I would say the combat system compares to KOTOR or Dragon Age: Origins. Mainly because the system is an action palette system just like those games, but plays out a bit faster. Questing is similar to an MMO: find an NPC with an exclamation point, go kill X amount of this and collect X amount of that. I will admit, the starting area had almost a little too many quests as I wanted to just move in and progress the story but my completionist instinct told me to complete every quest available. Despite the numerous quests at the beginning, I still had a blast doing all of them! The world is down-right beautiful and unique to say the least as well! As you know, the 'world' you live on is actually a giant being frozen in time.
This is one of those stories that get better and better as you go, so if you like the story at the beginning, your gonna love it more and more as you go! The music is fantastic and the voice acting is pretty good for the standard of the Wii! Tons of armor and weapon customization by the way! And the best part is that they have a similar FFVII 'Materia system' with equipping gems into weapons and armor for extra stats!
Finally, I will leave you with this. If you love this game, your going to have to break down and buy a Wii U. Why you ask?? *chuckles* I DARE you to look up the new Monolith Soft game coming out for the Wii U. .............X............ ;-)

Big Xenosaga and Xenogears fan here. I've always raved about these two games, especially Xenogears and Xenosaga III and I considered importing a Japanese Wii just to play this game, but just didn't have enough moola. Well I finally got around to buying a Wii just to play this game, and when I first popped this game in and played it, whew! Hearing the Mechonis battle music was amazing. The gameplay, I was a little disappointed in. If you were hoping for classic turn based battles, well you're going to get a system much like FF XII. A real-time system based around cooldowns and AI controlled allies.
IMO the battles are less fun than previous games, but Xenoblade makes up for that with enormous maps. Unlike Xenosaga where you'd only go about an hour between cut scenes and major plot points, Xenoblade has dungeons you may very well spend several hours in before getting to your destination, and that's when you try to go straight to your destination! Let alone trying to explore every nook and crannie for goodies.
The graphics are ok, it's been a long time since I played Xenosaga, but I think Xenoblade might be a step behind. You can see the pixels in the character models. Some of the scenery is breathtaking still, but it's definitely no FF XIII. The limits of the Wii I suppose.
The music was good, but again, compared to XS III, it's a step back. The themes played on the overworld are great, but there weren't any moving or emotional themes, nor heart pounding battle themes besides the theme when you first get to battle the Mechonis (Boss Battle theme.)
The story was interesting at the start, but if you grasp the story of Xenogears or Xenosaga, you may find yourself underwhelmed like myself. All of my guesses about the plot were actually right and I never felt truly immersed in the plot. I remember being stunned by every plot twist in Xenogears. So either Takahashi got lazy, or I've just played too much Xeno.
Still a very good game, but if you're hoping for something epic, keep your expectations low.

True are the review that call this game a masterpiece of JRPG or even RPG gaming. I was hocked the first time I read an article in game informer and watch review and a walk through on youtube. that I couldn't help but ask for this game for Christmas and it was worth it. By Hd console standards the graphics suck but this is a nintendo game and for that i give a 10/10 in graphics. for gameplay I say I love to explore and get lost in a world that feels real and that along with the story gives the gameplay a 11/10. Also there is a boatload of things to do that makes exploration lasting like xp every time you discover a new area or landmark. so if you like to explore this is the game for you and by the way the game world matches the speed of the character and not the speed to the size of the world. meaning that the speed of the character doesn't make the world seem smaller. so truly this game is massive. lastly I only review the greatest of the great, but don't take my word for it go and play it for yourself.

First off, ignore its on WII. This and "The Last Story" are the best WII games ever made. They are my personal favorite (from every console) game, like many others. Now for Xenoblade, the game is long, fun, and easy at first to play. It gets really challenging later on. The amount of time for completing the story (no quests or anything sidetracking) is amazing. Such a long game with so many plot twists to an already great story till the very end after the final boss. The game's music is amazing and well picked for the right moment in cutscenes + the voice acting is good too. The graphics are great and incredible especially for the WII. Long story short buy this or the last story.

When I bought this game, I was just wandering around a Gamestop store one day and saw it. I thought, "Well, this looks interesting. It's $50, but I think I'll get it anyway." Boy, was that a smart buy! This is, by far, the best Wii game I've ever played. I've played The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, and as much as I LOVE them, Xenoblade Chronicles is just a little bit better. (Don't hate, I've played almost every Zelda game and I would never betray Link) In my other review, I had only played this game for about a week. Now, I've been playing for about 5 months. Now I could give you some crazy long rant about how this is so much better than other games these days, but then nobody would read it. So I'll give you a quick summary of why you should buy this game: 1) The Storyline: By far, the best. You can try to predict what will happen next, but it will never work. It always turns out better than what you expected. 2) The Music: The best gaming music ever. Go listen to the song "Engage The Enemy" (youtube search it) and if this song alone doesn't convince you to buy this game, I will be shocked. 3) The Characters: You will fall in love with so many of the characters. Some are witty, some are naive, some are strong, and some are just plain epic. My favorite character is Dunban, and I'm sure he will be your's too. 4) The Voices: Giving the characters British accents was probably the best thing the creators could have done. XD So... GO BUY THIS GAME. You will NOT regret it.

In short, this game alone convinced me to purchase a Wii system. A truly epic experience that you find yourself mentally wandering to even months after you've completed it is worth more than money. Forget the 3 - 6 month burnout joy of CoD, forget the redundancy of sport games, forget the lackluster RPGs that come and go - this game makes the Wii, and Nintendo, shine. It pushes the Wii graphics to the limit, even to the point of impressing me. But most of all the story and gameplay of this journey truly reinvigorate the soul of a Radical Dreamer like myself. If you are a RPG fan, a fantasy fan, a seeker of unique stories and experiences in media, you need to play this game. Xenoblade Chronicles will forever sit on my library shelf so I can reminisce about the fun and drama with Shulk and company. Don't pass this one up.

This game is by far one of the best RPG's that hardcore JRPG fans could have asked for. in today's market were many RPG's have begun to be dumbed down and over simplified games like Xenoblade Chronicles are a shining ray of hope. Not only dose it sport fantastic voice acting music and graphics (for the Wii) it has a very solid core RPG system. With a great battle mechanic, Leveling system and even a bonding system for the party members. A must by for all avid fans of the genre.

If I had to explain this game in one word it would be massive. The game takes place on two giant robots and it never lets you forget just how massive these entities are. This is one of the biggest RPG's I've ever played. It took me over 230 hours to beat the game. I was shocked that this game could even fit onto one disk with all the weapons, armour, collectibles, locations, and creatures that inhabit the Bionis and Mechonis. This is a game that is worth every penny. The lip movements may have been extremely off because of the translation from Japanese to English but that is completely overshadowed by the immense world and mind-blowing soundtrack. After 200+ hours of playing with the main characters you begin to feel attached because you've gotten to know them so well. This game is absolute proof that there is no such thing as a limit to plot twists... or menus for that matter. There are so many options to go through with customizing your armour and weapons, the gems to enhance them, the collectibles, the attacks and character buffs, and character affinity. It takes a long time to figure out all the menus. Then, just when you think the game might be coming to an end something new and completely unexpected comes up. Close up the graphics are nothing to brag about the beauty of the graphics from a distance is amazing. The game almost feels alive when you're standing on the tip of a giant robot's finger looking out over the horizon to see the glowing red eyes and the form of the Mechonis looming eerily over you. Throughout the game you can see the forms of the Mechonis and distant parts of the Bionis in the sky. Side quests are also a HUGE part of the game. With so many locations and so many characters needing help in some way or another it almost seems never-ending. By the end of the game it's quite a sight to see how the numerous characters link together with their relationships and side quests. I can't believe that the game almost didn't come to America. I suppose Project Rainfall paid off after all and I'm glad it did. Xenoblade provides a unique experience that I've never gotten with any other game before.

This is a very well made RPG in many aspects. I'll share why it's so popular around the world for those that don't know. The Graphics, are good considering when the game was made, not only does it look good, you can hardly notice any repeating scenery, and the things that do repeat look like they should repeat. The ingame music is good and matches the surrounding enviroment or situation. The sound effects are all realistic and even the character voices match the current conditions. As for Gameplay, the storyline is great, not going to spoil anything in that regard. The quests contrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed. I enjoyed them because it made more sense and was more realistic to not know EXACTLY where to find a certain monster or item. Those that want really easy quests that are simple minded can go play World of Warcraft. It's not like someone can say, "I'm looking for X items, and here's their exact position which I magically know!" As for replaying, it's fun to go back and play again and watch for things you missed, storyline, and the like. Again great game, could use a little better tutorial system for those that want it, but still.

When I was first told about this game I was very excited. It looked great, had tons of content and was on the Wii. In essence it is a very good game but there were several problems with it I noticed at the beginning. First, the good news. The voice acting and story are stellar! I thought the various british voices were well done and perfectly fit the characters in the story. Second, the battles are excellent. The battle system, the enemies, everything about the battles was very well done. The story, for me the most important part of an RPG because they really are like books in my mind, is also top notch until a important plot point. After that point the story gets into the exact same mode as almost every other JPRG out there. So what about the bad news. What I thought the game really fell through with was the extra side quests. There are many, many side quests to be sure. The problem was not the side quests themselves but how to access them, to find specific enemies, to find specific NPCs, or to find specific locations. There is a vey detailed map in the game but it does not have an option to show the location of a specific enemy. Sometimes the quest giver will tell of an enemy located near a land mark, but the enemy is actually located a fair distance away, near another landmark. We are also told we need to go to certain NPCs but the NPC may change locations or be hidden, without a marker I can take some time even for small quests. This could be easily solved with markers on the map showing where certain enemies and NPCs are. Over all I liked the game but I don't think I will ever play it again even just to finish the side quests.

Xenoblade Chronicles is probably one of the best games for the Wii. The story is amazing with about 70+ hours attached to it. The characters are great. Gameplay is awesome. Never a dull moment in Xenoblade. The fighting system is super fun. An open world game with a well designed warping system to speed up monotonous running back and forth between two places. If you are a fan of a good RPG game, then do yourself a favor and buy this game!

One of the Gamestop employees suggested this because I have a Wii and hardly play it. I asked for an RPG and this delivered in a BIG way!
*Control 3 characters at once, very easily.
*Excellent tutorials.
*Smooth. No glitches, the game flows when you move around.
*A great and surprising story!
*Pretty much an open world you can explore and go back to find new things that develop as you progress. (Use the map to warp, you do not have to walk from map to map once you've been there.)
*Customizable characters with talent trees and equipment! A must for an RPG.
*Loveable characters with developed personal story lines.
*Fairly challenging puzzles, but not annoying ones.
*Challenging boss fights. (Be sure to take time to level up instead of rushing through).
*You can replay the story and keep your skills, and most of your gear.
*In game Achievements that you can track!
*Rebuild a ruined city and see how the residents react.
*The list goes on!
A must have for the Wii if you like RPGs. Go in with an open mind, and I feel that you will be totally satisfied. Don't miss this game!

A great innovation for the JRPG genre with great gameplay, streamlined quests, and amazing music. The RPG aspects of the game are rock solid. The characters are extremely lovable with good voice acting. The music is astonishingly well done, and match the tone of the game all of the time.

I love this game. Its a fun open world game for hard core gamer's and casual gamer's. I had lots of fun with this game but the one thing is while in a fight you have to focus on selecting attacks while the enemy is attacking you.You have to find a strategy to help you keep from getting hit while selecting your attack but this adds on to the fun.
