Welcome to Hong Kong, a vibrant neon city teeming with life, whose exotic locations and busy streets hide one of the most powerful and dangerous criminal organizations in the world: the Triads. This is a under-rated game and also happens to be one of the best games I've ever played. There are so many great things about the game. The gameplay, graphics, ect. are awesome. I can honestly say Sleeping Dogs has the absolute best story I've ever seen in a game. Overall amazing game

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
Im glad to say this game really paid off. Im proud of Square Enix for picking up the project after it was dropped and releasing it as Sleeping Dogs. Is this the open world experience that we've waited for? Yes it is, the story is very well told, voice acting and characters fit well into the world and you can get very well attached to them. The stunning graphics and hardcore combat with nice counters and takedowns, reminds me alot of the Batman Arkham games but no comparison the fighting is very alive and well, the soundtrack is amazing. Some music you may not listen to in a daily life but introducing alot of music in the different genres. It has fun mini games such as karaoke, side quests, racing, and ranking past friends in leaderboards. There are a few minor glitches every now and again, and of course being a single player open world without much to do multiplayer wise, its still good enough to have fight clubs to keep combat moving, shrines and lockboxes to find around the giant map. But this was money well spent and this game will blow your mind and make you want more.

When it first came out, I heard this game used Hong Kong as a background stage so I was so excited . Unfortunately, I fell kind of disappointed after finishing the game, here are my thoughts: the GOODS - you can swim around the island and nice car selections the BADS ~ 1) Part of the map look like the true HK but many area seem like in mainland China (HK using most traditional Chinese characters) 2) Those gangster's style such as their dresses, attitude and the way they talk don't look like to the real HK gangsters (go watch some young and dangerous series) 3) You cannot steal somebody's car and keep driving that vehicle, after you finish a task that car will gone 4) Sorry but too much cursing

This is a huge sleeper hit that everyone should buy. The graphics are so so - on par with Infamous, Prototype, Grand Theft Auto. Like most sandbox games the textures look a bit pixelated when the camera zooms in and the character models are some what stiff but no big deal. The city, vehicles, and characters look clean when in normal viewing perspective. You hardly see the same people walking around wearing the same clothes. The police are scattered but you aren't easily flagged for doing bad deeds. It's also fairly easy to escape them using the vehicle ramming ability. The Mandarin dialect is stellar. It pulls you into the storyline. The Hong Kong citizens that roam the streets are always saying something different so the dialogue doesn't get old either. I heard the neighbor ladies gossiping about their husbands so every time I leave the apartment I throw them off the balcony one by one before going about my business. The driving mechanics are really good. It has a bit of an arcade quality and is much easier to handle than in GTA. The vehicle ramming ability and drifting is incredibly useful. There are a lot of different vehicle models to steal/buy. The missions are fun and they never get overly frustrating. This game has plenty of things to do without causing too much of a distraction from the main storyline. I will warn you the shooting mechanics are difficult. Thankfully there are not many gun fights. The hand to hand combat is where the game shines. It plays like the Batman series. Very easy to counter, throw, and attack. You can also purchase upgrades to your character to add new abilities. For example, I purchased the ability to steal a car without the setting off the car alarm. This is pretty neat. The controls are not clunky like in GTA. You can use just about everything in the environment to your advantage in a fight. I threw a guy through a restaurant window and it was incredibly gratifying. Go and buy this game - it's a sleeper hit like the first Dead Space; no one knew about it or how good it was until the sequel hit the shelves. I'll be looking forward to Sleeping Dogs II. This is a MUST HAVE.

I love the idea of a Kung Fu GTA type game based in Hong Kong. This game had me overly excited by the previews just to be let down by horrendous driving and choppy graphics. This is a game that is only worth renting or borrowing from a friend. This game would have done better if they made the driving a little more realistic and the fighting more responsive. Sometimes this game feels impossible to pass certain levels. During these times I either had to set it down and come back to it or just spend a large amount of time on 1 level. I do not reccomend this game to anyone looking for the same feel as GTA as it is only a cheaper less entertaing version.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers
Ahhhhh Sleeping Dogs. I've played through it several times, and I love the story, gameplay, and style. This is an amazing video game that won't, like most video games, leave you saddened that you beat the game in the end, but excited to start a new account. I have had a great time playing this game, with a story almost as touching as Deus Ex, and with gameplay and graphics like Batman: Arkham City.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
This game is great. Im so glad it was saved from never appearing. This is not just another gta clone. This is a True Crime game through and through. The story is great. You play as Wei, an undercover cop trying to infiltrate the triads and bring them down. Much easier said than done. The story isn't original but the way it is told and acted is fantastic. You'll get invested in the characters and you'll play to find out what happens next.
You'll also enjoy exploring the city in the game as well. It's a realistic and busy city. It's fun to explore while on foot thanks to the focus on free running in the game and also driving in one of the many vehicles in the game. The driving controls are arcadey but aren't excessively so. Plus the vehicles have a ramming function that is perfect for slamming other vehicles off the road. It's awesome.
You'll mostly be using your fists in the game. Guns are pretty scarce at first. That's not a bad thing, however. In fact, I found it to be refreshing. Wei starts out with a basic move set but as you gain experience points with by completing triad and police missions he'll acquire more moves that look great and are fun to pull off. Fighting isn't very complicated. There is mainly just an attack button and a counter button. There are different enemy types however and Wei can grapple an enemy and perform one of many satisfying environment kills. It's a fighting system that reminds me of Arkham City and Assassins Creed.
There is a lot of variety in this game. I was learning new things about the game every time I played it. The first time I jumped off my vehicle to hijack another in a high speed chase was a great feeling. I loved this game because it was always throwing something new at me to tackle. Something that not many games do recently.
If I had any complaints about the game it it would be about the visuals of the game. They aren't bad but there are a few bugs. The characters have a plastic doll look to them. While animations look great you'll constantly see enemies clipping into walls and objects and there are only a few variations of each character type. Free running and movement can feel imprecise as well. You might climb a wall you didn't want to while running and you might not be able to target the enemy you want very quickly either. These aren't complaints that detracted much from my enjoyment of the game, however. I recommend picking this one up.

Soundtrack is great love the music in this game. Graphics are crystal clean and animation are great but there are few glitches ever now and then. Stunt man game play like jump from car to car steal ride or steal Truck. Car mechanics are great and action combat is pretty great too with little frustration. With meaning things to do and game takes place in china I really like this it's all the more awesome. Action in this game is ground breaking to me I have been long time gamer! ! ! ! Story line is one of best in years and Another game would be Dead Space and Dead Space 2 far as story line. Game makes feel like you are living this action out really experience this during the car chases in game. When cars blow up and fly out of control it's amazing. Game is just great rent a few times then said well I must get this one. If Shenmue were GTA this what it would be.
