The first Zelda game for the nintendo console turns out to be a remake of a gamecube game. its rather disappointing to think that they couldn't make a new zelda game to start things off. oh well, hopefully they are in the process of a new one right now.

A hidden gem

played the gamecube version and was amazed with the new Zelda art style. Many people back then were expecting the Ocarina of Time art style, but were shocked to see it as a childish art, and many decided to put a blind eye on the game, but those that played it know that this is one of the best Zelda games out there. The new art style is eye catching and the story just gets you sucked into it. The gameplay is like any other zelda game, its simple and easy to learn. And there are also many minigames to play and if you had a gameboy advance and had that connector that connected with the cube you can have a second minimap were Tingle helps you out.I just cant wait to see it come out for the Wii U, still have my GC version, but I am willing to play it again since it was a very enjoyable game.

Why Wind Waker?
Posted 4/5/13
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the game for the game cube, but I really don't understand why it needs a remake. Even if it is 10 years old, the graphics still look really good and could easily pass as a game that is released now. I thought for sure that after releasing the remake of Ocarina of Time for the 3DS that Nintendo would begin to start on a remake for Majora's Mask. I would much rather see an updated version of MM who's graphics need a 21st century update than a WW remake who's graphics still look great.

ok so i have had my Wii U since the day of release, i had pre ordered the Black of course, honestly i lved wind waker but id love to see some 64 games re made into HD like Mojaras mask, Donkey Kong 64, Harvest moon, and super mario 64. But the biggest move i would love to see is Elder Scrolls 5:Skyrim, i can just imagine the usefull capabilities of the controller screen, i mean seriously. but i still love Nintendo

Really like this game, It looks great. But I wish they would have came out with a remake for this on the 3DS also. This game would have been great in 3D! Hopefully they do a MM in 3D.

The main reason I'm buying a Wii-U

I've heard a few good things and a few bad things about Nintendo's New console. Just cause of Nintendo announcing this game, has persuaded me to purchase a Nintendo Wii-U in the near future. I was extremely impressed with the Wind Waker, I've played it for hours and hours and have beaten it many times. I fell in love with the art style and simplistic design of this game, It was intended for all ages even though it had a very childish vibe towards it. It said it was to be released 12/31/13 that is what Gamestop does when they don't yet have an actual release date for the game. Nintendo said and quoted ''The New Wind Waker Remake will be available some time during the Fall of 2013 during or after this years E3 event'' So. Also it's a win win, I buy a new Wii-U console to later on get more exciting new great games.

Was Hoping for Majora's Mask... Next Best Thing

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker probably has the most amount of content to sink long and lonely hours into. Which is good. It also had a graphic style that looked beautiful and functioned well on low specs. Also good. So why in the name of the Triumph Forks did Nintendo remake this one?!
I understand Nintendo was doing graphical experiments with their previous Zelda games to see how HD would work for the next title. Seems Wind Waker was the only one that looked significantly different? They must have not have seen that (allegedly) fake HD trailer for Majora's Mask. (I wonder if Nintendo did make that after all as part of their experiments?) Now Nintendo probably won't remake Majora's Mask for at least a few more years. Dang it.
But you know what? I'm still buying Wind Waker on Wii U and I'm going to like it. I'm too much of a die hard fan. Gonna get it. Gonna beat it. Gonna get 100% in my shrimpin' pajamas. AGAIN. Only this time... this time... in HD.

at least Nintendo should make it for the Wii as well since skyward sword was a big hit on the Wii and some people cannot afford to buy the new Wii

One of my personal favorite Zelda games goes HD.

This has gotten me really excited when it was announced.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is one of my favorite Zelda games of all time. Sadly It had massive criticism because of the art direction they went with was not appealing to others. But for me it was mind blowing, the Cel shaded look was just so beautiful, I literally spent my time with the game watching the game and item effects such as the exploding bombs were eye catching. The gameplay was amazing, the the cutscenes were well played and sometimes really funny Japanese humor, the characters are lovable and likable, the boss battles were so much fun, the items were really cool and useful. Just everything about this game makes me want to not drop the controller.
Now in its 10th Anniversary, its being remade with this generation of graphics and a few tweaks to make the game different than the original instead of an HD paint job. This is going to be SWEET.
Hopefully this game gets the more attention it deserves, alot of people missed out on the original because of the different style they went with. Please guys get this game, you missed out on a really fun adventure. Alot of people criticized DmC, but they tried it and changed their minds about it when they played it and actually liked it. Do the same for Wind Waker.

Why Wind Waker

I am a loyal Nintendo gamer, and I must say: Wind Waker is not my first choice to see as an HD remake. After the great response from the Majora's Mask on YouTube, why doesn't Nintendo remake that game? Remaking Wind Waker and removing the "toon" from it would excite me more. To me, this is just a lame cash in on a B-Zelda. Bad choice by Nintendo.

Wind Waker is a great game
Posted 2/7/13
You may not think that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker deserves to be remastered but a lot Zelda fans do. True Zelda fans would want a game like this remastered. Just like many fans were excited when they found out that Ocarina of Time was being remastered. Trust me, Majora's Mask will be remastered. What you don't understand is that the creator of Zelda is still working on the up coming title for the Wii U. Some people don't stop and think about the hard work that goes into making games such of Zelda. He wants to make such that everything is done right and true Zelda fans respect that. If he decided to remaster Ocarina of Time and then Wind Waker; it's pretty obvious that Majoia's Mask is on the list of Zelda games being remastered. Be patient. Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto know what they are doing.

From What I Hear

I am relatively new to the Zelda series as a whole. I bought a used copy of Twilight Princess a few years ago and thats how I got introduced to the series. Being a first timer I didn't know what I was getting myself into and quite frankly I still don't. I haven't beat Twilight Princess yet because I lack some of the gamer common sense one needs with these games. But all of that is besides the point. After picking up Twilight Princess I have come to love the Zelda series and even went out and bought Links Awakening. Now on to LoZ: The Wind Waker. From what I hear from my friends and after reading online forums you either love it because its a Zelda game and its amazing or you're sick of "toon" Link and want more adult Link but you still play Wind Waker and enjoy it because its a Zelda game. I'm actually really excited to be getting this. I wash't going to buy a Wii U until the price came down a year or two or four from now, but from what I've seen/know, LoZ is a big deal in Nintendo and there will more than likely be a "Special Edition/Collectors Edition" Wii U that will be released with this game. That or they do that along either big Zelda releases or important years in Nintendo and/or Zelda franchise. But I'm ecstatic for this game (not so much for the $500-$600 I'm about to spend on Wii U related things but ecstatic none the less).

Bold

Wow, this is a bold move for nintendo, while everyone was expecting a majoras mask remake, they are going to make a wind waker remake for the wiiU, personally I'm excited not having played wind waker before. I'm not sure how this is going to play out but I personally am going to buy it when it comes out. I think it will be cool, but I think right now what nintendo need for the wiiU is not another port but an original title or sequel that really shows the power and capabilities of the WiiU. I think the improved graphics and gameplay will leave wind waker fans happy, but I'm not sure about people who are going in expecting it to be as good as an origonal game made for the wiiU not just a port of an earlier game.

Man when they said fall I didn't think they meant the last day of the year.. I want to play this. Is it worth it to wait and pay so much or just get it cheap for gamecube? Do like HD though..

"The end of the year" is just a placeholder, and it would be winter by that time anyway. And the game isn't cheap on gamecube, it's maintained its price for one in an okay condition.

They haven't confirmed the day of release, so that's why the date says the last day of the year. It is expected to come out sometime in August.

its been a really long time since i have actually played wind waker on gamecube, so that immediately comes to mind, along with the fact it will be the 1st HD Zelda (no its not unscaled, but they are upgrading the games engine along with adding game pad controls). I really look forward to buying this game this fall. i really do hope they can add a hard mode, or even new dungeons, either way this will be a great edition to my Wii U library!
