Did you buy this product for yourself or someone else? For me
I was really surprised at how much stuff was blatently missed or disregarded in this guide. Actual important items not listed on map or in text (like fortune spears). A few maps were actually inaccurate. Honestly, I wouldn't complain if there were maybe like 3, or 4 errors or so, but there have just been so many I've lost count. It honestly seems like they just blew through writing this to get it out on time or something like that. Theres a lot of carelessness in it. It gets the job done for the most part (like getting the god awful temple puzzles done), but its certainly lacking. I would like to be able to recommend buying an original guide from back in the day for this, but from what I understand this version of the game(s) is a slightly different version, maybe japanese port? Anyway, it's a shame the guide sucks, as the internet has hurt guide sales so much, and I personally think having a guide for a good rig is irreplaceable

Absolutely Want/Need

I have owned both the games covered in this guide but i only had a guide for FFX-2. It was almost a complete necessity if you wanted to pass the game completely. The guide told you how to access secret abilities, bosses and that freaking impossible dungeon at the end. All the super secret things are revealed to you so that you can view the complete perfect ending and fill up with joy. As for the first game i can totally see how it's helpful. Try finding the Sisters summoning on your own . Without them you can't have Anima. That's right you CAN have Anima. If you're reluctan about using the guide cause you want to do it without help do what i do. Beat the game to your fullest extent and then once you thinked you can't do anymore read the guide and be amazed at all the stuff you didn't find. Must have for such a big, extensive, mysterious amazing game!!!!!!!!!

its a nice guide and all...

but there are quite a few errors in it that may frustrate those taking the guide word for word. For instance, in the FFX section, it says you only need to capture 10 of each monster in the monster arena to obtain Nemesis. That's only partially true. They however, did not mention that you need to fight all monsters in the arena as well.
Another error are the specific hidden effects to each weapon. I could go on, but its silly.

Did you buy this product for yourself or someone else? For me
This review is mostly spoiler free. Game mechanics are all that are spoken of. This review is only regarding FFX HD and not the X-2 section. The guide is good for the basics and it will tell you where the items are. It will also go over most of the side-quest information and the some of the end game optional bosses. My issues with this arise from the lack of information regarding the real end game material. It teaches you what you should do to beat optional superbosses, but gives no information on how to get to that point. A lot of the end game is grinding item drops, stealing rare materials, and exploitation of advanced mechanics. Customization of armor and weapons, bribery mechanics, and hidden super treasures are more-or-less unspoken of. Considering I paid for this guide and the FFX section is only 165 pages long (while the FFX-2 section is 200) I feel slightly cheated. I expected some things to be glossed over, but I find myself on GameFaqs looking for information more than I find myself reading this "comprehensive" guide. It's a good buy for the nostalgia. It's a good buy for any fan of the game. However, be prepared to spend time online looking up the more intricate end game details. [As far as the FF X-2 section as long as the game is comprehensive enough that you could achieve 100% completion than the guide is certainly worth it. If not, I suppose I still have my old guide in storage.]
