The Persona series, renowned for its caliber of high-quality storytelling, gameplay scenarios, and worldly views, is unlike any other. And Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth will be the first RPG in the Persona series since 2008. The most recent in the series is Persona 4, which was so popular it spawned several spin-off titles and still has one of the most fervently loyal fanbases to date. Persona Q also draws on the Etrian Odyssey series, with its own growing core of engaged gamers drawn to its unique playability and map-making mechanic. Persona Q takes the best parts of these two long-running RPG series and creates a monumental new experience for the Nintendo 3DS.

Let me start off by saying Persona is one of my favorite RPG series ever made and it's always felt at home on portable consoles. I've seen gameplay of the Japanese version released in June and it plays like an Etrian Odyssey game. If you're unaware of the EO franchise, it's a super tough, super addicting dungeon crawler RPG where you pick a party of 5 members and given the task of mapping out the many floors of a labyrinth. Although it sounds tedious on paper, it's incredibly satisfying in action. The top screen works as a first person dungeon where the bottom half of the 3DS is essentially your graph paper for drawing the map. The bottom of the screen gives you tons of custom tools and there's even an option for the game to draw a basic version of the map for you if that's not your thing. If you want to get a taste of the EO series, I'd suggest Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. I've been playing it for about a week now, and all it's done is make me even more excited about Persona Q!

I REALY don't like the fact that it was supposed to be released the 25th and I went today to get it from a nearby GAMESTOP and they said it had not come in yet....when it was supposed to arrive the other day. What's up with that? I'm really not happy with this at all. It's not as if a shipping delay has been put out for all to know as I have not found anything having to do with Persona Q.

I am really excited for this! And not just for the game itself! All of the extra products you get with the Premium Edition makes me happy. I think the thing I'm looking forward to most is the music! I've already gotten hooked on the "main theme". All of the music is written, once again, by Shoji Meguro, who just does a fantastic job every time. ~This carousel! Spins us round and round!

Persona Q and Etrian Odyssey had a baby? What could be better? Not to mention the cast from Persona 1 through 4 will be featured. I can't describe my excitement for this game. Tuesday can't get here fast enough. I'd recommend any old school dungeon crawler or JRPG fans pick this game up. You won't be disappointed! ;3

Just when I was starting to worry about future 3DS titles. Thank you Persona. Thank you. (and the music sounds great too!)

I can get behind this?

While the idea of a persona game on the 3DS is sorta odd since all Persona games outside Arena have been on Sony consoles (to my knowledge) I can't complain because the 3DS is a great console and a mash up between the cast of 3 and 4 could never be a bad thing!
