BioShock Infinite

Indebted to the wrong people, and with his life on the line, hired gun Booker DeWitt has only one opportunity to wipe his slate clean. He must rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious girl imprisoned since childhood and locked up in the flying city of Columbia. Forced to trust one another, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond during their daring escape. Together, they learn to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities, as they fight on zeppelins in the clouds, along high-speed Sky-Lines, and down in the streets of Columbia, all while surviving the threats of the air-city and uncovering its dark secret.

Somewhat linear story and gameplay, since the controls are streamlined for players, but it is a completely engrossing tale all the way through. The ending will leave you shocked, and let's just say, well, there's a good reason the game is called "Infinite". Graphics and sound are amazing, and the simple but tweakable combat system always gives you something new to play with just before you start to get bored. An amazing game that should never be passed up, although it does make a good rental. P.S. - the PS3 version has the original bioshock on the disc which is a nice bonus

Bioshock Infinite is so different from the original, I hardly consider it a sequel. Sure, the game play is similar in some ways, but the story, atmosphere and everything is so much different. But in the best way possible.

This game is absolutely beautiful in story. The ending is just simply breath taking. I personally enjoyed this game from beginning to end. The graphics were not all that great, I've seen better, but the story itself makes up them completely. I definitely recommend everyone pick this game up, or at least see someone play it and fully grasp what a video game story can be,

Before I type up this review, an introduction to my knowledge of the System Shock/Bioshock series is pretty up-to-date. I've played System Shock 2 and Bioshock 1 and 2 and consider them great games. System Shock 2 is a very groundbreaking game and Bioshock is one of the greater games of this generation, while Bioshock 2 had a decent multiplayer, a good story that told a different section of Rapture, and Minerva's Den was not too bad. But Bioshock Infinite just honestly didn't need to be made. I played through the whole game on Normal and felt myself rushing near the end because I was getting so incredibly bored and wanted to play something else like Bioshock 1 or 2, System Shock, XCOM, just something that would calm me down. I started the game and began to play it, liking the storytelling at the beginning. The graphics were good with a cartoon-feeling, yet felt like they were trying too hard to feel realistic at the same time with numerous amounts of blurring and lens flare, like Call of Duty. The idea of Columbia as a flying city seems very underplayed, and I didn't pay much attention to the gimmicks that tried to draw me in to make it feel like a city like this could exist. It felt like a normal city to me, since most of the time you're either walking around interiors or in some elevator, visions obscured by clouds, or just trying to focus on not being shot at. Near the end when the story begins to break down, it just seems like it's trying to force ideas and try to be like these "art indie games" that have come out over the past few years. It's not confusing, it just doesn't feel right. The main "villain", Comstock, doesn't have the same mystery shrouding him like Andrew Ryan or Lamb to give the same effect. The story also seems to try and force religion down your throat with multiple conflicts about religion, baptisms, being "born again", and other "controversial" topics. It tries to shock with the "Master Race" groups, the decision to go with racism or against it, and it begins to make a huge mess of itself. With these random mixtures of religion, race, time, wormholes, and purity or revenge being crammed down your throat all at the same time, you end up being overwhelmed or confused by the end. The characters are very one-dimensional in my opinion. Booker DeWitt must save Elizabeth, a 17-year-old girl in Columbia, to wipe away a debt. Booker seems to give a "I'm a bad person, I know what I've done" attitude similar to Niko Bellic from GTA V, or every other single person who has ever had that plot line. He's very dull, and just seems to whine a lot. He's a typical character that has been played over and over in multiple other games. Elizabeth, the girl, is a talented lockpicker, musician, and a girl with the ability to make wormholes that advance to the future or cause alternate realities. She's supposed to contribute to the story, but she ends up being walking underage pair of breasts about halfway through the story. She's helpful in combat, giving you ammo, health, weapons, and other things through the tears she makes or just throwing them to you in the middle of combat. Other then that, her contribution to the story seems better than Booker's, especially with such riveting story lines like "What happened to your pinkie?", but she still plays a damsel in distress who complains about Booker killing people, yet doesn't do much about it. Other characters include a racist factory owner, a -black female- revolutionary (Really trying to break the stereotypes and make her a strong character by making her not only BLACK, but also a female, especially during this time period.), and the couple who helped create Columbia, who just follow you around and keep trying to give "thought and art" to the story by asking random questions. The guns and "vigors" are very dull, with the guns only consisting of a pistol, a machine gun, a shotgun, a RPG, a detonated explosive, a fire launcher, a STRONGER pistol, a REVOLUTIONARY machine gun, a carbine, and other guns that you probably won't use except for the RPG, Handcannon, and Shotgun near the middle of the game, especially since you almost get unlimited ammo for them due to tears and Elizabeth throwing you ammo every five seconds. The "vigors" (plasmids) are mass-produced drinks that cause you to have multiple powers, which doesn't explain why you're the only one with the ability of the vigors when they're all over the place for people to drink. The vigors consist of fire, lightning, launching enemies in the air, bringing enemies to you, charging towards enemies, taking over machines so they fight against you or give you money (which you end up buying "salts" (EVE) anyways to refill your meter), the ability to summon a murder of crows to attack people, and one that creates a shield to absorb bullets, and lets you launch it back at your enemies With this selection, there's not that many creative vigors, there's none you can buy, the upgrading for them is okay but costs money to do so. The enemies are very basic, with only 4 special enemies consisting of a "flamer" who is on fire and uses fire vigors, one who teleports around using crows and stabs at you with a knfie, rocket launcher troops, and the Handymen, who are pretty much the Big Daddies of Columbia even though you get better stuff from a flamer, like lockpicks for Elizabeth to use. Besides that, there's revolutionaries and police officers who use different rifles, machine guns, and shotguns, as well as charging at you with their melee weapons. After you complete the game, there isn't much to do except to wait for the DLC to come out, collect the audio logs to learn more about the actual story you're interested in (Columbia), collect telescope views and kinectoscope views for more history, or do 1999 Mode, which I imagine is just you getting demolished every five seconds and Elizabeth reviving you for you to only restart a little bit back and try again. You can go for the trophies, but they require two playthroughs usually with dull trophies like "Use this vigor this many times, shoot this many people with this gun, kill this person a certain way, collect all these!" Overall, I wasn't planning on picking this one up as quickly as I did, and the only bonus to it is that it has the original Bioshock on the disc, which you could just trade this game back in if you bought it and get Bioshock 1 and 2 for the same price (Maybe System Shock 2, as well), and enjoy those equally more satisfying games.

If you play any BioShock game you will find yourself hooked! And will have no desire to put the control down. But Infinite is Mind blowing. Its beautiful visuals and its very amazing story will have you're jaws hit the floor in no time. As soon as you meet up with the supporting female protagonist Elizabeth, you will immediately fall in love with this character and will never want to stop playing for the charm she bring to this game. That and every thing else this game has to offer. This game has very high potential to become "Game Of The Year 2013".

Coming into this game I was new to the Bio-shock series. I hadn't played Bio-shock 1 or 2 or even did thorough research on this one before I got it. I can safely say though that this is one of the best games I've ever played, even though the good parts don't come until later in the game. At the beginning it feels like an average run and gun first person shooter with a great story. But the more I played the better it got. Something that made this feel different from an average first person shooter are the vigor's. They are almost like force powers and they have different abilities. They all work basically the same, you can either use them by launching/shooting them, or by setting up a trap for enemies. The vigor's start to become useful quickly too. The first one you get lets you control machines which isn't very useful, but then you get a fiery grenade and that's when you know that these vigors are cool. The guns are pretty cool but some were just like other guns but with a different look.(like the machine gun and the repeater) All this makes game-play great, but it doesn't stop there. Bio-shock Infinite also has a fantastic story, one that gets you involved and caring about the characters, it's so basic yet so deep. One thing I didn't like however is you get to make choices like the cage or the bird at the beginning. A man and a woman come up to you and hold a necklace and say the bird or the cage. You get to pick but all it does is choose what necklace Elizabeth wears. Don't get me wrong these are cool, but they're all a little meaningless. The sound affects and music in this game are great. The music always fits the mood whether you're in a dramatic scene or in fast-paced action. Last but not least the lasting appeal. I was worried that this game wouldn't last long because it didn't really have additional modes, but it does come with Bio-shock one, which has a long campaign along with this games campaign, you'll be playing for a total of about 25-30 hours on both games. In the end Bio-shock infinite gives you the best bang for your buck and will always keep you busy.

My Summary sais it all "Freakin Awesome"
At First I said A. Creed III was the best game I ever played and well yes the graphics are better than bioshock, but when I finished A. Creed I really didn't wanna play it again and I haven't Well I've beat BioShock Infinte twice already "Yes the second time was on 1999 Mode" and I kinda wanna play it again it's that good... Do yourself a favor and buy the Freakin thing...

Ken Levine and everyone at Irrational Games have done it again. This is by far the best game I've played this year, and it will most likely stay that way until the year ends. The graphics are so beautiful no matter which platform you choose to play the game on. The sound and music during your fight/shootout scenes is the best I've ever heard. But the thing that wraps this up in a nice package it the story. The story line drives this game the entire time, and leaves you with your mouth open. I have not heard one single complaint about the ending, which is extremely rare in the video game world. If you haven't gone out and bought Bioshock Infinite yet, spend the money and buy it before you have the story spoiled for you. You definitely get your money's worth. Don't forget! There are also 3 single player DLC's being released this year to keep the story going!

I am a huge gamer, and am a massive fan of all naughty dogs, the infamous series, and the previous bioshocks. I had my doubts about this game since rapture was no longer was in it, but you imidiately fall in love with Columbia. The graphics and music are stunning along with super smooth gameplay. The whole game has you confused until the last scene where everything starts to make sense. I recommend this game to people who love story lines because this by far has the best story line of any game ever with a mind shocking ending. This is probably my favorite shooter ever.

I just picked up my PS3 on Friday and this is one of the games out of a handifull I bought for it. I probably haven't touched a video game in five to six years. I installed the 12gb Bioshock included game and played it for four or five hours before I put in Infinite and played it for a couple hours.
Both games were awsome. Infinite blew my mind away. I highly recommend the game. Even on normal mode it is a bit challenging and difficult.

First off this is either my first gs review or the first in awhile ... I just wanted to say my two cents on this amazing game cuz im a huge bioshock fan!! This game has it all - good graphics, great story, amazing gameplay, awesome guns, and plenty to do ... Theres multiple kinds of enemies and salts so dispatching all the different guys is a real treat ... Im especially fond of the bucking bronco and raven salt ... Very useful powers ... If anyones on the fence about getting this basically perfect game then I urge you to jump high off said fence, go to your local gamestop and pick it up now!!! You wont regret it!!! Its a heck of alot better than 2 and possibly even better than the first imo

I was surprised at the beauty, the involvement, and the story line. It was beautifully written. The beginning was amazing. The story was amazing. The ending was spectacular. I loved it, and I would recommend it to anybody. Well done Irrational Games, I am definitely a fan

The just lacks replay value. After you beat the amazing story, there's nothing else to do but replay the story again. And there aren't any multiple choices or secrets in the story either. There will be a seasons pass though. The main reason to get this game is the story.
